This nonsense needs to stop.
The cost of a neo contract is a pretty cheap investment for some teams to develop a rider under their control. Maybe neo WT contracts should require a certain amount of race days per year to make the teams step back and think for a second.

Ineos usually announce late, August is 'heavily linked' and likely skipping juniors,

Just to clarify; that's Andrew August, right?

Well, he can't exactly skips juniors, so I'm assuming you mean skipping U23, which - TBF - has become increasingly common.

Which nonsense?
The constant comparisons. Andrew is not Remco with more power. It's just stupid clickbait resulting in needless pressure on a 17 year old. Reminiscent of Uijtdebroeks getting the same comparison. Now Cian is as down to earth as they get, but someday a young kid will fall because some stupid journalist who probably hasn't seen AJ race once just decides to sh!t out of his keyboard.

It's fair to be fearful of how having this kind of expectation levied on ever more precocious talent will affect them, both as athletes and in life. Probably also sharpens some of them too.

Not that there's any ratio, but for your Remcos there are also Adrien Costas.

And then the less/not reported on at all likes of Niels Michotte who won the 2022 junior Paris-Roubaix and was contracted for Axeon for 2023-> and quietly retired at the end of 2022. No word on whether injury, mental issues or loss of love for the sport was the reason, but either way a case in point for both hyping and having riders skip U23.

The Germans aready did that to Herklotz by calling him "as good as Ulle at the same age" and also put way too much pressure on Brenner by calling him "better than Ulle at the same age". Mind you that actual coaches caame up with that bs...

Frankly, I wouldn't touch any American talents that raced for Axeon, they all peak early and and finished at 25. It's not a coincidence that both McNulty and Kuss rode for Rally...

Ineos usually announce late, August is 'heavily linked' and likely skipping juniors, Albert Philipsen also in talks for 2025. You think if he was going elsewhere they would've likely announced, although Jumbo-Visma have a spot open with Van Hooydonck's retirement so perhaps they will try and swoop in.

Canyon need to be all over Philipsen; he wants to continue mixing disciplines - and they have a team which has UCI registered teams in 3 disciplines......and a Devo team.

Plus, Philipsen will be in theory reaching his peak when VDP will probably be saying goodbye to the sport. 11 year age gap between them, so when AWP will be 25, VDP will be 36.

Well if other American teenagers can handle the pressure of being a top basketball or football recruit, then I would think the pressure of cycling would be much easier.

Exactly! He should be Canyon's next marquee rider......

In all honesty, Alpecin, and to a lesser extent, Ineos are the only teams fully committed to multi discipline riders.

Ineos *** up big time! Certainly should've kept Tao Geoghegan Hart now. to least they do so with Rodriguez.

Lapeira is someone Lidl should've taken a gamble on. Considering they went for every decent rider on the market. Piccolo Lombardia winner. Just like Gall a good renewal for AG2R. Hopefully it's fruitful for the 2 riders as well.

Or maybe Ineos had some insider info about a coming merger and left spots open on their roster so they could in more talented riders (Roglic?) than we’re available until now.

Is a soon to be 34 years old Roglic really the big deal Ineos is looking forward to?

Makes some sense IMO because their other talent is still developing. If their plan is to dominate with a strong team like old Sky or JV then they need that core of riders to be well-oiled by the time the next big thing is ready to rock n roll. (Just think of how much better off Remco's GC challenges would have been if Pat had figured that out ahead of time.)
