I am honestly waiting for one of the people getting lifelong contracts to decide they want to be the next Rebellin/Sevilla/Mancebo. Imagine Visma still paying millions for Van Aert every year in the 2040s. It would be cycling's answer to Bobby Bonilla.
I hope that all the teams have some contractual clauses which defines the lifelong or the amount of money is connected to results/UCI points/races they are doing. Otherwise it would be just stupid... I think the lifelong is more a thing for the media and fans

Alpecin have Senna Remijn, Sente Sentjens and Dockx coming through who are excellent talents (though the latter more a climber type), they should be alright in the long term, though they will need someone a bit more experienced surely for the next year or two to control in the classics.
Del Grosso should move towards being a genuine star next year and the heir apparent to MVDP for team leader.

Benson:
  • Wright -> Ineos, Jayco, Q36.5?
  • Askey leaving FDJ
  • Kirsch leaving Lidl (weird to me but ok)
  • Bennett probably leaving Decathlon with Kooij coming in
  • Covi -> Astana, Ineos, Visma?
  • Vendrame -> FDJ?
  • Harold Lopez can extend with Astana, but Red Bull and Bahrain interested
  • Fortunato extending at Astana
  • Haig might go back to Jayco

It's nothing special
  • Wright to Jayco is off, but still leaving Bahrain
  • Adria possibly leaving Red Bull for Movistar (Marca also adds Silva and Garcia Pierna to Movistar who are close to a new big second sponsor)
  • Zana extending with Jayco
  • Rivera extending with Ineos
  • Van Wilder possibly staying at QS after all
  • Schwarzberger and on of those UAE guys are being promoted to UAE WT team in 2026 possibly.

Oh, another rider who was in Abarcá's feeder, passed up for promotion and then Unzué pays up to bring back into the fold, just like Samitier, Óscar Rodríguez, Pablo Castrillo...

How many times do we need to teach you this lesson, old man?

Enrico a man of character, turned down Visma to stay at Movistar.

Enric Mas has recently turned down an offer from Visma | Lease a Bike , Spanish newspaper MARCA reports . The Spanish rider recently extended his contract with Movistar until 2029.

Visma | Lease a Bike would have liked to see Mas as an addition to the current leaders and give him a role as leader in various multi-stage races during the season, but Mas declined the offer because he wanted to stay with Movistar.

Mas is currently preparing for the Tour de France , where he wants to go for a podium place. Early June we will see the 30-year-old Spaniard in action for the first time in the Critérium du Dauphiné.

It's surprising that BORA hasn't retained him. He's one of the few who has performed well since they signed him.
I'm not surprised. Yes he performed well mainly in smaller races but they have a boatload of expensive guys they signed for the same races that Adria wants to headline (Pithie, Lazkano, van Gils, Fisher Black). So going to Movistar is great for Roger he can go for his own result in every spring race he has on his calendar. Also it will be easier to go stage hunting in the GTs which should be his next step in his career.

I think Red Bull should be also bringing in Kirsch next to Vermeersch. Would be the ideal guy to domestique in GTs and classics + even an option for the sprint train if Olav is really changing teams.
