Coupe de France winner Clément Venturini is close to retirement. Before the merger plans, Intermarché wanted to sign him, but apart from that, there was not much interest. For Cofidis he was too old, Total had too many riders of his kind already. From Groupama and Decathlon there came nothing at all.

He got an offer from Burgos the other week, but didn't want to sign for peanuts. His counter-offer was rejected.

Didn't he also reject Unibet a while back or am I misremembering?

Cofidis rejecting him because he's too old is hilarious by the way, can't remember the last winter where their oldest signing is younger than Venturini is now.

I can understand that some teams could find him too expensive, but I can't see why Cofidis would find him too old. He's only 32 and he scored more UCI points in 2025 than all of their riders apart from Fretin and Aranburu, so he's not exactly showing clear signs of being in decline unlike some of those that will be riding for them next year.

Maybe Houle's transfer to Alpecin could open a door at NSN for him, but they don't really need a rider of his profile at all. I guess they are more likely to move up someone from the devo team.

a French rider wouldn't be bad for some applause by the sometimes harsh (Arsch ;) ) French crowds.

Venturini has clearly shot himself in the foot with his wage demands. Cofodis not signing him is funny. Better to give a big extension to the young Emanuele buchmann who will surely hit his potential in 2026 and reduce his points deficit to venturini

Ineos have made some good signings but can occasionally come off as place for older riders to con a clueless billionaire into a payout. Foss, Jungels, Haig, Hamilton. I bet they’re paying Kwiatkowski well over the odds for that 3 year deal, though he’s still fairly decent.

Onley should stay at DSM for a season, they’re doing a great job with him, though I can understand if Radcliffe is throwing big money.
