It is pretty well known Pedersen wasn't happy with Trek leaving him out of the Tour, this isn't a secret. Pedersen even said it himself with not so many words. Doesn't mean there was an actual conflict or that he wanted to leave.

I am honestly waiting for one of the people getting lifelong contracts to decide they want to be the next Rebellin/Sevilla/Mancebo. Imagine Visma still paying millions for Van Aert every year in the 2040s. It would be cycling's answer to Bobby Bonilla.

I hope that all the teams have some contractual clauses which defines the lifelong or the amount of money is connected to results/UCI points/races they are doing. Otherwise it would be just stupid... I think the lifelong is more a thing for the media and fans
