So I'm guessing that the company DSM firmenich is taking a big step back financially: remaining involved, but not as name sponsor but "their innovation partner in nutrition and health". I suspect that a food delivery service has rather less budget to offer than a multinational petrochemicals firm...
Briefly glancing at Picnic's recently published sales and profit numbers it looks like whatever budget available for cycling will just contribute to a greater loss.
Needs must and you get sponsorship wherever you can, but DSM makes more than twice as much annual profit compared Picnic's sales.

But I do prefer the new kit colours.

Having a startup/crypto firm as a sponsor is a sure route to having to find another sponsor the following year.

And just what the peloton needs: Another navy blue jersey.

You maybe be right on the blue kit, may have been the sponsor logos but I thought this year's kit was poor and looked messy, also never seemed to fit some riders well.

Maybe this is Picnics best chance to expand their business and sales right ?

Tbf apart from Ineos who are the other navy blue jersey team right now ?

Also UCI rules forcing some convergence by avoiding the alt colour jerseys

movi, fdj, israel, qs, decathlon, alpecin, jayco...i should have said "predominantly darker blue" (though alpecin may be grayish blue now?). Even teams like Bahrain -- which had a perfectly good reddish kit -- have defaulted to dark blue shorts.

I didn't love DSM this year but at least you could tell them apart instantly.

I'll die on the hill that EF has by far the best kit. Anything that stands out and says we care about presentation, me like.

Yeah, the alt jersey color ban is kind of silly, but maybe it could force some teams to think a little differently....

Apparently, jersey designs have to be sent to the UCI by either 30 Sept or 1 Dec (the article is ambiguous) so that they can be checked for similarity, so however many teams there are in navy blue, or any other colour, the UCI are ok with it.

i see that Kevin Vermaerke is starting in the Tour of Norway. He has had a dreadful spring, with a total of 5 DNFs, four of them in a row.
Has he been injured or ill?

Max Poole would be out of the Vuelta squad (if they had named it yet) with Epstein-Barr virus. Could remove him from competition for some time.
Oh dear, not good. I did wonder why he was not finishing races this summer,
I was sort of hoping he would do an Oscar and ride high on gc.
