The average American sports fan has turned on Armstrong and just wants him to go away. From the editorial pages of the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

I would bet most of the employees (especially the employees at the top) would have known about Armstrong's dirty side and Livestrong's dubious origins and could have left the foundation if it really mattered to them. So I would not call them unwilling pawns. Considering their jobs now depend on the outcome of 90 minutes of TV, they are definitely part of the masquerade. Fake apologies and tears all around no doubt.

The apology to Livestrong employees was 1 part theatre and 2 parts practice for Oprah.

Herman: Lance, let's try it on a soft audience first.

Lance: Ok, we'll gather up the brainwashed Livestrong staff

Relevant new info:
According to CBS News, he is currently in talks to return some of the millions of dollars of taxpayer money his former team received from the US Postal Service.

To many Lance threads don't know where to put info!!!

Fascinating, and more proof this is all part of a bigger plan to deceive.

Dave.

This was the old Paceline forum, which was for the Postal Service team and later Discovery. One of the administrators went on to work for RBR. The current Paceline forum is the rehosted Serotta forum, and I don't think it has anything to do with the old forum.

When people sign up for forums they often use the same password as the email account they sign up with. Armstrong used that to "hack" into people's email.

If I knew this I would have setup an account with a password as: "lanceyouratotal******bag".

Absolutely no sympathy for this lying sack of Armstrong sh!t.

Judging from the comments on articles, most Americans feel betrayed by this a-hole and have no time for him anymore either. He needs to just go away. He's a scumbag. Everyone knows he's doing this only so he can get back into riding against age groupers.

The guy's entire life is a complete and utter lie. Anyone who believes a word coming out of his mouth is a fool.

The reason he's going in front of Oprah is because everyone knows Oprah doesn't know the first thing about cycling. Or the last thing. Or anything in between either.

Vadar did some brilliant work on that forum.

I also did a few good yarns if one does say so :D

Everyone here at the clinic can't seem to resist giving him attention, even though it is overwhelmingly negative. We'll see clinic "attendance" goes up immediately after the Oprah piece.

And while I too think he is a fraud (among other things), and nothing he says can ever be trusted, I'm still going to watch (with morbid fascination) his Oprah performance.

Watch the Master at work... Anything he says will be couched in lawyer honed minimum damage phrases.. He'll control the interview and answer only to admit the vaguest possible admissions about his past. Don't think he hasn't rehearsed all this for some time, he had to know one day the SS Armstrong was gonna spring a leak.. After Oprah, his spin machine will go into overdrive, but he'll never get that muck from out under his fingernails..

A while back , today , BBC World News Impact program said , Winfrey was disappointed with the Confession ? Now going to be a two part program as a result of the material .

What did she say on the Morning News program ?

There is a report that the US Justice has until Thursday to join the " Whistle Blower Case "? Has his desire to " Confess / express contrition " any bearing on that case or an attempt to join the Action ?

Heinous has been " waffling " in recent times also , could he be suffering nervous symptoms ?

Moose McKnuckles. Why you gotta be so damn right?!

I am sad to say I've seen people today feeling sorry for this loser. I don't think they realise that this man cheated, and then used that cheating to lie to millions of cancer sufferers around the globe, while earning tens of millions of dollars a year. Think about that for a second.................. How did he sleep at night? What type of person can pull that off?? Only a pure scumbag can pull something like that off.

You picked a good thread for that tidbit. Either this one or the Qui Tam topic.

His offer to DoJ to return some money AND cooperate as a witness was rejected.
U.S. government rejects Armstrong's $5 million offer in whisteblower case

A move in his redemption? Or a shuffle to try shift some blame and save his **** and a few bucks? The latter, IMO.

The test of Wonderboy's true contriteness would be personal (ie in person face to face) apologies to Betsy, Frankie, Emma, Walsh, Kimmage, Mike A, Simeoni, Bassons, LeMond, Pound, Clerc to name a few

A bit OT but no need for new thread

I read somewhere in the Clinic that all living TdF contenders will be gathered at Champs Elysees this year? If thats right, I think it would be a fantastic gesture to have some sort of event where the likes of Simeoni, Bassons, e.a. gets a big pat on the back, maybe a yellow jersey for decency. This world needs more media coverage of people with well calibrated moral compasses.

Bassons would not do it. He has moved on. He was asked would he take the job of UCI president. He said no.
