Or the Tour of Missouri presented by Greg LeMond, whichever you prefer.
Common Greg, step up. Do something positive for the sport instead of tearing in down.
LA has supported races and teams and is even trying to revive the Coors Classic. Throw ToM a life line. Use that Trek money for something good.

Of course this is a troll but I cant resist.....Two questions

When has Lemond ever torn down the sport?
When has Armstrong ever financially supported a team or race?

Thanks for the list of companies that give Lance $$$$ not how about that list when Armstrong's $$$ flows to races and teams?

you got the cart in front of the horse with your logic. Obviously those companies make the money from LA. If you wanna research a bit, look them companies up on the NYSE under EPO.

Doesn't he own part of SRAM? Technically..... His appearance at both races did help renew interest from the fans. Personally I think it was bs that those guys were there, takes away from the US teams that for them is one of the biggest races of the year.

I got two, Nevada city and gila. Not a fan, but he did save both races from extintion.

You may want to read what the OP wrote. He was suggesting that Greg use some of the money he received from Trek to support races and team like Lance does. Lance has not given any money to races and teams. If all he needs to do is show up I am sure Greg is happy to do that.

Doesn't Lance own Mellow? I have no idea if they've donated money or not... but I'd think Mellow Johnny's giving money would be the same is Lemond Bicycles giving money... right?

Nike, Mellow and Livestrong.com are all for-profit companies.

Realistically, one could argue that these companies could step up and sponsor the race. It may be a venture that yields little hope for profit, but at least they'd have a chance to promote their businesses or products and get at least some return on their investment. For Greg to take some of his own money, and instead of giving it to charity giving it to a bike race with no plan of any return on that money is nothing short of absurd.

It's also my understanding that Greg has done quite a bit in his home state to promote physical education to combat obesity, some of it through cycling, especially among youths. Link 1.Link 2.

Doesn't it make sense for the guy to spend his time and energy helping people that truly need it the most?

If you ever manage to dislodge your head from LA's a$$, then maybe you can ask him to save the Tour of Missouri. Armstrong is far wealthier than Lemond so I'm sure he won't mind throwing his money away. Use that SCA settlement money for something good like helping raise cancer awareness in Missouri. Plus, he can't he be involved with anything Coors - conflict of interest.

It's agreed that Greg Lemond has very little money towards Lance Armstrong. But people should maybe take it into consideration that Greg just might be helping out in his own way, but dosent make it public to all & sundry as he's not an egomanic like Lance who demands maxium media coverage from every act he does.

That is classic rubbish.

Tour of Ireland cut from 5 days to 3 days last year because of the appearence fee of one rider, that rider being...........Lance. Then of course dropping out on the third day because it rained. Yeah, Lance does so much for racing, if there are dollars to be made that is.

Never heard about it but its good to know.

Yea, because LeMond doesn't need to scream from the rooftops about it. It's like when Ayrton Senna died, they discovered he'd made donations to children's charities in Brazil to the tune of over $4 million. But he kept it secret, because he didn't want to do the whole Bono thing of making sure you knew he was a good person. To him, it wasn't a big song and a dance of what a good person he was, fighting the good fight. He just did it, and concentrated on being a racing driver.

Anything to support this claim re: Trek/Livestrong? To the average viewer it appears to be a way to build the Livestrong brand for the coming IPO of Demand Media.

Armstrong has taken far more from team Radioshack then he has put in. In fact he hired a bunch of 2nd tier riders and made the support staff take 10% pay cuts in order to put more $$$ in his and the Hog's pocket.

As for MJ, that is a for profit business designed to sell jerseys and put money into Armstrong's pocket.

Well, there's the name of course - Livestrong is a sponsor. It's also owned by the same management team that owns Radioshack.

What are you talking about? How much has he taken from Team Radioshack? Do you have anything to support this claim?

Crazy idea, huh? Create something, put capital into it and attempt to grow it. That's what Team Radioshack and Team Livestrong are as well - investments.
