It's a minor thing, but why is this 10 characters limit necessary?

Other forums don't have this limit, and I've never seen spambots posting short messages.
Or is it to avoid "yes vs no conversations"?

It's just a small thing that annoys me from time to time. Was wondering why it exists...

I'd like to respond wiht +1 but that's not possible :p

Mostly isn't an issue, but if you quote someone who has expressed the way you feel pretty good it'd be easy to just say '+1' or something...
