Might be the (only) downside of having the very best classics riders of this generation be so multitalented (CX, MTB, GTs) that they have to reduce some of their classics schedules to fit everything in. Can’t member classics specialists in prior generations skipping San Remo. I suppose it also reflects the increased emphasis on training camps. Which I think is too bad for fans.

If riders begin skipping MSR because of altitude camps in preparation for the cobbled classics, then I think it's about time to remove the cobbled classics to the fall.

What a shitshow if he also does that, like Wout.

I don't think he will skip San Remo, and I'm not sure if he will even go to altitude before classics. As far as I know, he's not much of an altitude fan. Anyway if he wants, I think there's plenty of time for that between CX Worlds and MSR.

This is what Wielerflits reports. I would take it with a pinch of salt though because Algarve after de worlds CX seems like an absurdly short break to me.

Was hoping for something more. Especially Amstel. And perhaps one or two more of the Begian races. Rather Dwars and E3 than GW.

Dirk De Wolf (63) camped out on Tenerife for six weeks at 25 to 30 degrees, but of course saw how Mathieu van der Poel was the biggest ray of sunshine in the house last winter in the Flemish mud.

"The question everyone asks is whether he can still improve for the road season? He can do even better, I hear from one of his best training buddies (Niels Verdijck, ed), with whom I have weekly contact."
A lot can still be added and then we will get sparkling classics. And then another one will have problems, right?", De Wolf refers to Wout van Aert.

to those who think MVDP was at his peak in CX.....

Because " The Animal " " The Cannibal " and " The Badger" are already taken, after his rainbow domination, I think " The Destroyer " is a decent name for MVP literally untouchable

Might be vdP's last cyclocross worlds? Surely not? Also, why can't he just turn up at the Worlds? Why does he need to race 10 races before as if Wout is not there he will win anyway

Another great day to be an MVDP follower. Can't take them for granted - probably has only 2 more peak years. Things were looking a little rough there for an extended stretch (Tokyo plank, lingering back issues, hotel issue, more lingering back issues), but now he is in full flight. For anyone who rides/races bikes, seeing this guy 100% healthy in his prime race is worth watching - a genius at work. If the can continue this run of good health he's going to demolish guys in the big 1 days the way he demolishes guys in CX.

The answer is right there though. MVP. At least in North American sports it has great meaning. And might be most fitting for him

Let’s just wait and see where his ceiling is. It’s as easy as waiting to see

What is his road schedule? Is he doing Strade? Without Wout and MVP, Pogacar has everything to win unless he is not in shape to be fresh for Giro-Tour

Apparently we will only know his schedule in two weeks, but through the grapevines it’s being said that he will start in Italy. Most likely in MSR, but he might first do Strade or Tirreno.
