Boasting no- why let him off the hook.

If there wasnt a positive LA has lied to two people about a serious matter.

Exactly. Tyler did not say he knew that there was a positive test, he said Lance told him there was and that people made it go away.

Looks like 60 Min. just buried Keker. I hope they can do better at trial. Shoddy.........LOL!

Or to paraphrase 60 Minutes response to Lance "We got your apology hangin' One Ball".

You left out George (and Levi, KL, MJ when it's revealed they told the truth as well).

This entire "apology" is fairly amusing actually. Maybe CBS should apologize to the tobacco industry, John Gotti and others while they are at it.

Interesting point. It is odd to consider it, but perhaps they do deserve an apology.

Lance is trying to win the crook and cancer contest, by combining them both.

Dave.

Since when does CBS News, or 60 minutes become a court?
I do not quite understand any of it, whether it be Armstrong, Tyler or George.
It is a media Corp. an apparatus for selling commercials, an enterprise like Saunier Duvall, Phonak, Kelme etc., no different. Please were they not selling Psuedo Ephedrine themeslves(Claritin) not so far recently past?
Armstrong needs to get relevant on this, the 60 minutes interview is as important as one of Floyd Landis's 20 odd Twitter accounts, which is zilch.
CBS was relevant when they reported the Vietnam Conflict, when they showed Mai Lai and US body counts, now not so much! Why on earth would Armstrong's legal team even chose to confront yellow journalism from Tyler a proven cheater? For Armstrong to give CBS the time of day shows Armstrong's douciness. Very shallow by Armstong's team very leglizize false. Face Palm, Armstrong.

60 Minutes is an investigative news and interview show. I'm sure Lance thought it had relevance when he was on there voluntarily, promoting himself. But it is a news show, trusted and respected by millions of Americans for decades. For some of us, important things have happened since 1968. Anyway, they like to inform the American public when things aren't what they seem. That's Lance in spades. Their audience includes a lot of people who might not care about pro cycling, but don't appreciate being fooled.

Comparing 60 Minutes to novelty twitter accounts, suggesting it's yellow journalism, and beneath the likes of Armstrong and his ever-increasing legal staff is an interesting tack, especially when saying bad things against LA to try to make discrediting CBS News seem sincere. It reminds me of the dozens of new accounts that showed up here the night the Landis story broke.

People watch 60 Minutes because they trust and believe them. They're also a reliable source to quote around the globe. Millions of people around the globe continue to hear the story. They're not a court. But there are serious legal investigations going on, and a lot of us are grateful for a snippet of information now and again. We also know that every time a story hits from mainstream media like the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Sports Illustrated or 60 Minutes, more people start to accept the truth, and many others start to question their own beliefs about the guy. Thank God for people like those at 60 Minutes who are willing to take on a guy who's been given way too much media power over the years.

You have an excellent point, that 60 minutes is respected and sincere. However, the pre-trial or investigation,(is it completed?) could be diluted by the 60 minutes interview? Look at Tyler, an intelligent guy, has a degree, 4th in tour, but also, well we know his story.
How do we know he (or Floyd?) isn't being paid by Armstrong to muddy the waters in any Armstrong case? These are serious questions.
Anytime a strong news media source becomes involved in a pending legal case, there is a chance of destroying part of the prosecutions case.

i just posted the link of cbs's official response to the amazing letter of the new lawyer.

that letter is truly phenomenal in it's patheticness.

how could a highly paid lawyer produce a letter with at least 2 easily debunked transparent lies and 3 cheap obfuscations that took cbs just a couple of hours to expose

either lance is losing touch as to the quality of his legal dogs or the situation is so disparate that the cheap pr tricks is all that's left..

indeed !

let's for a moment put aside the meat of the two documents and look at their form and presentation (something i'm generally reluctant to do)

the differences just jump at you.

otoh, armstrong's legal letter is verbose, repetitive, filled with captions and harsh accusatory rhetoric

and on the other, the cbs response is laconic, to the point and crisp.

something is telling me that cbs was expecting the salvo and by some measure may even welcome the panicky lawyers stepping into the trap...

i think armstrong's lawyers know they have no case, but they're willing to do anything to drag it out. win or lose, they get paid by anyway :)

Pure Lance throwing his toys out of the sanbox.

Can't get what he wants, makes demands, accuses everyone of impropriety.

He's making enemies at every turn: CBS doesn't care how important and above the law Lance thinks he is.

You can't wage PR wars with media conglomerates; he ain't got the arsenal.

Naturally, he doesn't refute the charges of doping, just the technicality of the arcane difference between a positive and a suspicious sample.

The straws. Clutch them, Lance.

This is just going to become sad.

I cannot understand the reasoning behind the letter - they must have known they would not get an apology. So what was the point? He has nothing...

Just read the letter to CBS demanding an apology. LOL!!!

With Armstrong's wealth surely he could employ a legal team that has the ability to use the English language properly?

The letter gave them an appearance of the upper hand for a while yesterday. ESPN.com had a headline for most of the day saying Armstrong demands an apology. But the tide turned and a new Associated Press article released this morning confirms what 60 Minutes reported about the info Saugy gave to the Federal investigators, and that his recent interview with a Swiss newspaper was not consistent with what he told the Feds:

Sounds like Saugy's doing his best to wriggle out of being a focal point here but is just drawing more attention to himself. Interesting that the meeting with the UCI after the suspicious TdS sample included people that Saugy "didn't anticipate" would be there (obviously Bruyneel and Armstrong)

I'd almost say checkmate. I'm not sure where Lance Armstrong can go from here?

Reading the comments on the various news sites most now just say "come on Lance, just tell the truth" - people just want him to be nomral and human.

He's in grave danger of becoming a total joke. People no longer take him seriously and laugh at each one of his denials.

I'm interested to see what his next move is...

Where does Lance go from here?
