No. Are you seriously comparing the entry into the Flanders sectors with Amstel?

You only have to compare the accidents of recent years.
Also, the average weight of top 10 in Flandres is 10kg more than in Amstel (at least it was last year), you're fighting for those sectors with guys that are bigger and heavier than you, not with riders of comparable size

remco should do absolutely nothing until giro but build gently and staying healthy.

MSR and Ronde should be out of the question for now after what his body has gone through since Lombardi 2020.

no crashes. stay healthy. that's it.
MSR should be fine.

actually, skip the Giro as well, bit risky

and the Tour can be sketchy as hell, probably best to skip that just in case

Agreed.

Best he retire.

But seriously, folks, no one wants to see Remco trying to follow the best on the descent of the Poggio just to go somersaulting head first over a parapet.
The Poggio descent is fast but it's not usually ridden at absolute breakneck speed by the front group, it's why it's not uncommon for a chasing group to get back on. I also haven't see much dangerous descending from Remco - if it's too fast for him, he won't take stupid risks trying to hold the wheel or close a gap (I'm thinking TdF 2024 stage 4). The way it's ridden at the moment, with Pogacar doing his best to create gaps on the Poggio or even the Cipressa would theoretically suit Remco if he can stay in good position coming to the climbs. I'd love to see him give it a go!

The speed isn't an issue... Poggio descent is extremely technical, that's where Remco will struggle

Just watching Nibali's proximity to the stairwell on a tight right bend and Mohoric's full MTB posture suggest that you can definitely win by taking all risks. Gotta have the skills or you end up in a vegetable greenhouse 50 feet below the stone wall that launched the spectacular end to a career. Love the last 40km of that race.

Its really not.

Its famous. Its got hairpins. Its extremely importamt. That is it

The only time someone got away on the descemt was motodraft +G2 syndrome.

In my view, Roglic and Evenepoel to Sanremo is a nobrainer

In 2024, Pogacar was really pushing on that descent and Pidcock caught him by a few seconds. That's impossible on a non technical descent

Okay. But if you are Remco and decide to go to MSR would you not do that descent a dozen times or so. Remco is average at descents. But if he trains on a specific descent he wont lose much time.

Merckx won most of his 7 MSRs by being the best and most fearless descender of his time (until Moser showed up).

Not sure what they're been doing at the team camp, but it looks like fun.

BTW, I'm not referring to the picture above, I'm referring to that video on social media with the funny costumes.

What type of rider could he become? Hilly one day races?
To sum it up, yes, I'd say he's a puncheur like Roger Adrià, but maybe a bit faster and a bit worse at climbing.

In the Spanish amateur scene he was one of the most versatile riders I've seen in recent years. Furthermore, he doesn't seem to be very advanced in his development (although this is just my opinion), so perhaps he can progress more than expected.
