The big difference is that Vingegaard in the last 3 years has been consistently been much better than this, while Evenepoel has never been that significantly ahead of the rest of the pack in the mountains.I'm waiting for next 2 stages before preliminary verdict.
If I'm honest Vingegaard did not look much better from what little i've seen from the highlights, and judging from the timegap. It's only Pogacar that is that much better. I can be very wrong ofcourse in my assesment. I'll see today and tomorrow.
Each of the the big MTFs last year he was closer to Almeida or Landa depending on who came 4th than he was to Pogacar or Vingegaard, with the exception of Isola which is when Vingegaard gave up on winning the Tour and decided to just defend 2nd place. And Evenepoel shipped 1'42 to Pogacar while putting 18 seconds into Almeida.
