The TdF 2024 cant be used as an argument at all anymore. AmRacer told us that Remco havent pushed the numbers Evenepoel pushed in the Tour 2024, so clearly that never happened..
TdF 2024 happened, pls tell me when after TdF 2024 Remco has pushed those numbers.
Agreed the numbers he pushed in 2024 would be enough to beat anyone not named Pog or Vigno. However he needs to emulate this Summer. Hopefully he has a clear run with iniuries and is able to show his best- i suspect that will direct what he chooses to focus on in the coming years.

If he really wants to keep going for GT's he needs to be better than in 2024, otherwise what's the point? Then just go for a huge classics palmares, and maybe 1 week stage races because there are ITT's in it
You are right, but it's not a sure deal at all he will build a huge classics palmares if he decides to quit from being a GT rider. Monuments and WC are dominated by 2 riders and since 2024 MSR (when MVP decided to race for Jasper), other riders don't sniff the win (only Ganna was close to win in 2025 MSR).

but I really think it's about body type. look at Pog, Ayuso, Seixas, Del Toro, Vingo -- very different from squat, compact, muscular Remco.
I really think that may be it, particularly in a GT world dominated by MTFs and almost zero ITTs.

In a lot of them there are. Look at the big 7, in 5 out of 7, there are time trials. Maybe not in Catalunya and Basque. But I don't expect this scenario to unfold anyway, I expect him to already show he's better at Catalunya

He's got to show improvement at Catalunya or else alarm bells. At any rate, and I hope I'm wrong, but I think Ineos would have been the better team for him to get the most out of himself, not Bora. It's just a feeling.

He is joking, he knows Remco cannot lose 5 kg. He is basically saying Remco doesn't have a chance against this Vingegaard. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone though.

Vingegaard looks very strong indeed, then again VPP was 2nd today. I still think Vingegaard will win Catalunya, but I hope to see better opposition at least
It looks like Vingegaard still very much has it, and with the rise of Del Toro, and possibly more so, Seixas, is it likely we'll never see Remco win the tour? Or even another grand tour?

Any betting man would say no, but we have to see how the move to Red Bull-Bora developes this year. If he doesn't improve upon his 2024 Tour result (cut the time down to Pog and Vingo), then I think it's fair to say it was never meant to be.
He is just 26, Evenepoel still has time. A Tour de France win require some luck and perfect conditions - it has been clear for some time already. But he is capable of taking other Grand Tours depending on his calendar and goals. He isn't guaranteed to win (he is not so dominant compare to other 2nd tier GC riders), but the ceiling is clearly there.

I don't think he's going to be the best Grand Tour rider left when the tyranny of Pogacar and Vingegaard is finally at an end.

"He is not so dominant"? He is not dominant at all. Yes, he still has time but so have Vingegaard and Pogacar. At least 3 years at their best (2026-2028), can Remco win the TdF in 2029? Against Seixas and other GT riders who will eventually step up? I don't think so. I do not think he will ever win another GT tbh.

Yeah that makes sense. The UEC ITT is the 7th of October. Lombardia is the 10th of October... He's also coming back from Canada for the UEC RR. So that will have an influence on his body too. It's just best to do:
Quebec, Montreal, WC ITT, WC RR, UEC RR and Lombardia
