I know I'm in the (tiny) minority but I'd be fine with him resting up til Donastia and then then ride every UWT race apart from the Vuelta as I don't think he should live like a monk twice a year.
What *** is this "living like a monk twice a year"? Roglic does 2 Grand Tours every year, Valverde did it whole career!

It is an absolute tragedy for the sport, Belgians and cycling fans in general that Remco signed with Quick Step. It's also a piss poor deal for him because he signed for way too long and is worth much more than he is getting by now. I doubt he earns even half of what Pog gets tbh. All I want is for him to be at a team like ineos, perhaps even Bora.

I believe the kid can win all 3 grand tours, perhaps even a couple of times.. but you do actually need to ride them. He's not gonna win every time he competes, and that's okay. Neither does Pog or Roglic, we don't think of them as any lesser riders as a result of that. Nor will we think any less of Remco if he doesn't win his first tour. I reckon Uijtdebroeks will ride 2 tours before him at this rate...

Let. The. Kid. Race.

It's not even a matter of racing two GT's. He got out of the Giro after stage 9, with the hard stages still to come. Even in 2021 he did 17 stages i think.

Personally i don't feel that 23 year old cyclists should ride two GTs per season. Especially if the goal is to always try to win.

Maybe PL wants a team like INEOS to come in and pay a fortune for Rem. That way he can go back to the classics and bin the idea of trying to win another GT.

Evenepoel rode the equivalent of a one-week race at the Giro, so he really is only doing one GT.

Yeah but if he does another one this season he needs to win it or he has basically failed. That is the narrative.

So mentally and in regards to preparation it's basically going after winning 2 full GTs. Minus a couple of race days. Due to finishing Giro a bit early.

So it could be that his GT season is already over this season. In that case Giro 2024 or maybe Tour 2024 will be his GT goal for the 2024 season. ITT kilometers likely playing a role. We'll see.

Exactly, it was a good one week race in preparation for the tour. Now another training camp and 1-2 kg lighter and he is ready to rock. He and a few important team mates such as Vervaeke and Hirt shouldn't care about covid and the protocols either, one level of stress less to account for.

Something tells me that he will ride La Vuelta this year. I mean Lefevbre could just be lying through his teeth. Plus in preparation for 2024 QS can just sign some high profile domestiques in the meantime. Van Wilder is already exceptional and (notice that kick he had today at the finish line). 2023 can still be a very good year for Remco....there's a lot of racing to come.

Whose narrative is that? And please please don't cop out by saying Remco fanboys.

Don't know if Pogi will make it but likely Remco could do Dauphiné this year. Week long effort with decent amount of ITT and climbing on all terrain in it. Against at least one main Tour protagonist in near Tour form.

Yeah, a test against the Skeletor at 98% would be something.

He won't ride a bike until the end of next week followed by a heart test.
So that gives him about a week before the Dauphine? sickness and 10 days not riding and 4 days of seeing a bike again is probably not a great preparation for Dauhpine. (Hence why i think TDS would suit more as it gives an additional week to adapt a bit, altough it won't have Chicken 2.0)

Remco is covid free. Lefevre confirms again that he won't race the tour or the vuelta. Instead he would focus on one day races and maybe a one week race such as the Tour of Britain. Reason: the pressure from the public!? Lefevre is projecting his own continuous ego battle with the public on Remco's career. It also looks as if he wants to transform Remco in a one-day classics guy. He is ruining his career! Get the kid out of there!
