Clear interview. Praised Roglic, the solely roglic lovers on this forum won't like that, because nothing that Remco says is good.

Him blowing up is ofcourse not a good thing, that set aside :D

edit: I do like the fact he is cooling down on his TT bike. Means he shouldn't be in that much pain in that position. (whether it allows him to push the numbers to win tomorrow needs to be seen)

Remco quoted as saying he had the legs to follow to day but went wrong ???

So no crash effect then
Don't know where that comes from. In the interview in Dutch (Sporza) he said it wasn't his best day, because otherwise he would have been able to follow Roglic. His legs were not as good as yesterday and earlier in the week. He says he made the mistake of trying to close the gap too fast and ran out of legs, that he should have done what Thomas and Hart did, follow their own pace and should have been able to follow (Roglic in the end) had he ridden his own pace.

Interviewer asks if it had anything to do with his crash, he says "it's possible", that last night a dark pus oozed out of his wound and that his body is still recovering. But he didn't use that as an excuse.

He basically confirmed what I said. He accelerated to get back and then suddenly realized it was still 700m steep. Bad timing of his effort. He had to pace himself better. The TT will give us a better view if there is performance dip but if there isn't we shouldn't conclude that he suddenly can't do long climbs. His diesel might work just fine.

His enemies in order of importance
1) His team that cannot protect him from crashes or rivals and now apparently cannot recon the parcours and give him a strategy to execute.
2) Himself. His inexperience means he cannot decide how slowly he should close a gap
3) Roglic
But as long he does not blowup in the mountains, he should still be the favorite

Roglic's and Evenepoel's efforts were comparable and the latter maybe went deeper in his effort (relative to today's form). No reason to think this is more likely to affect Roglic. This could affect both, one of them or none (most likely IMO).
Typically the one that leads out and decides the effort and tempo will be affected the least. It’s always awful to be under pressure, try to follow and get dropped. Yet the true test comes tomorrow. Should Remco hold it together then he’ll still be the favorite albeit a tad less so.

Really don't know what to think. Just a few weeks ago he completely dominated on exactly this kind of climb in LBL and today he gets dropped by TGH and Thomas. Did he peak too early? Is he injured? Whatever it is I am a lot less confident in him winning this Giro now.
Simplest answer is not trying to take too much away from today. He was like 5 seconds off on the top of the climb. That's not that far down compared to expectation. I think it just looks worse cause Thomas and TGH exceed expectations here.

Infection of some type?

Everyone expect him to destroy them all again tomorrow, but if he can't hold his TT position very well after the crashes it won't be like the opening TT.
13sec loss is also not so much for not having your best legs, but he went deep today that's sure.

Hoping for a better performance again tomorrow, after that some easier days to recover more.
