Love Remco but he is dumb as hell. He just races with his watts. If he isn't in top shape he races the same way as he was in peak shape.
He will never beat Jonas or Tadej in the Tour if he continues to race like this.

He should be in top shape then, but I agree he didn’t ride smart. I think he always wants to go for an amazing win instead of just a win

and that's kinda why i'm a fan.

stay away from GTs that require conservative racing and sacrificing half a season...

go to altitude periodically and target many, many thrilling wins at LBL, San Sebastian, Worlds, Lombardia, Amstel...etc...

Me too but when you don’t have the legs just win and improve your palmares

its not about riding his watts, because if he did they wouldn't have been in his wheel. (and he would have dropped a lot earlier if he tried his real Watts).
He is riding based on something feeling? HR? and seems he overestimates himself. I don't mind, he tried his best, and struggled until the end. Its good to now and then say 'hi Mr. Wall'.
That is how you learn your limits. Its only in his goals he should ride smarter or a bit more tactical. (but in those case he has the endurance to sustain what he does today so yeh).

Agree.
Agree.
LOL. After 4 years of hype, GT victories are a waste of time.

uh...not from me...

three years ago, i posted that i thought he had the potential to win many LBLs...and those types of races (well, well, what about that, huh...)

he can certainly win GTs, but it requires total prep and long altitude camps and then nothing can go wrong. i don't want him to do that as then we miss out on the great rides.

San Sebastian 2019, 2022
LBL 2022. 2023
Worlds 2022

All waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more exciting and fun to watch than the entire Vuelta last year.

Fact.

Not many can follow Remco, when he does his inevitable attack. That is his move. Like in LBL. Like in San Sebastian. He can push some serious watts for a limited amount of time, that when in peak form very few are able to follow. It has looked very easy when it has worked.

Had he dropped everyone during his attack today and if Skjelmose or Gall had not been able to close the gap, Im pretty sure Remco TTs to the finish and wins the stage with 20-30 seconds.

The problem occurs when his big attack dont work. Like on a few occasions now. He doesnt seem to be able follow it up. He cant follow it up? Why pull for so long with the others just sitting on the wheel?

Tactically there are some things to learn still and his climbing is what he needs to improve on or hope he gets in the dream position he had in the Vuelta a few more times in his career.

Sorry my wise one. New forum member bows down to wise old sage. Oh by the way, I was speaking in generalities. I don't give a crap what anyone in particular said 3 years ago.

A lot of people said that. Agreed with that.

We was told he was the new Merckx though. Promised even.

Obviously he is a master strategist.
Step 1 Feint: Draw out your strongest enemies by going to the front and pacing.
Step 2 Shadow: Wheelsuck your identified enemies.
Step 3 The Finishing Move: Self explanatory TT.
