Should have hired Froome's agent. The stupidest part in all of this is that Evenepoel himself isn't even on a big contract. Like last article I read he was only on 2M

Stage 12 of the tour is one of these stages where I really wonder how Remco would perform. I think he could do a lot of damage on stages like this. Probably it would not be enough to put Pogacar and Vingegaard in real danger but other GC riders could lose minutes.
Evenepoel had no problem with Merlier coming, yes he was promised to race the Vuelta. But because there are so few chances for Merlier, he supposedly agreed to a program with less suffering and more opportunities for him, like in Luxembourg and some 1 day races.Lol.
It's very likely Merlier was promised to race the Vuelta at the very least when he moved to SQS. First he doesn't go to the Tour despite performing better than Jakobsen and Jakobsen leaving, now Evenepoel getse the full team fo rthe Vuelta.
Still in the long run sucks for Merlier and his career but next year should en better with Jakobsen gone.Evenepoel had no problem with Merlier coming, yes he was promised to race the Vuelta. Is 2m so bad? Nowhere near pogi's 5m, but I believe riders like Vingegaard and Roglic are on similar wages? The stupidest part in all of this is that Evenepoel himself isn't even on a big contract. Like last article I read he was only on 2M
Most definitely a better team2M is certainly not bad. I would be very happy with that salary.
But, it's human that when another "employer" is offering 3x this wage, that you are tempted. Certainly, if it's to execute exactly the same job as before. On top of that Ineos has most probably a better team to achieve what Remco wants to achieve.

Bikes (and a pizza) in Val di Fassa. Remco trains in ItalyHe makes more with Pizza Hut commercials.

INEOS wil Remco Evenepoel: is een overname ploeg Lefevere een optie?
Special De Tour de France is dé snelkookpan van het wielrennen voor geruchten. Knipperlicht Kerckhoffs saying that there is a rumour circling in Radio Peloton around the Tour de France, one that would see Ratcliffe not just buying Remco, but straight up buying QuickStep as a whole. This is to be taken with a grain of salt, like Kerckhoffs admits as well, but in the midst of this whole saga an interesting thing to follow.
I can't imagine this would be allowed. Sports leagues in the US have a rule against this (one owner, two teams) because they could operate both teams for the benefit of one. For example, just how many people would be in Remco's train? Would he have 15? What if several people were injured on Ineos, would the QuickStep riders abandon their goals and now work full time for the Ineos rider? Or domestics could alternate days of work. Ie today 4 riders from Ineos pull the Remco train while the QS riders hang out in the grupetto, next day the exact opposite. Everybody is fresh for their day in the front.![]()

If one of the teams got relegated then it still raises the concern when they ride the same races. It would completely gut the procont’s season.I can't imagine this would be allowed. I suppose if the UCI made Ratcliffe relegate one of his teams immediately, it could work, but then I would think the sponsor (Quick Step) would either sue or ask for their money back.
It'd be easier/cheaper to buy Remco's team, keep a sprinter maybe.

But what if they get together as 1 team so they don’t own 2 teams? Buying out the team/riders and get them within Ineos(-Quickstep).I can't imagine this would be allowed. Theoretically would it be possible to merge the teams into one organisation - not that impractical this year from a roster standpoint with lots of rumoured big departures from Ineos and Soudal-Quickstep only having about 10 riders under contract for next year confirmed.I can't imagine this would be allowed. Isn’t that a bit what happened when garmin took over liguigas under canondale…? Or am I remembering that incorrectly…?Theoretically would it be possible to merge the teams into one organisation - not that impractical this year from a roster standpoint with lots of rumoured big departures from Ineos and Soudal-Quickstep only having about 10 riders under contract for next year confirmed.
They could set up a continental level development team like several current world tour teams have already.
One could say that current Quick Step's origins go back to that, as the structure was formed in 2003 by a mixture of staff of both Domo - Farm Frites and Mapei - Quick Step.Isn’t that a bit what happened when garmin took over liguigas under canondale…? Or am I remembering that incorrectly…?
He did this last year so I don’t see any reason why this would be different this yearDo you think Remco will be able to hang in with the best climbers in this Vuelta???
I hope he can but I think some of the stages are too tough........ there seems to be an insane amount of uphill/mountain finishes.
Did you watch last year's race and take a look at this year's route? He did this last year so I don’t see any reason why this would be different this year
