While I don't disagree that Evenepoel has had the highest expectations of any rider thread bar maybe Pogacar, using the thread title as proof is just silly.

So you agree with me, but still need to find a way to disagree. Such is the Internet I guess.

I have no horse in the Remco race. I honestly don't care if he wins or not. I was bummed when Pog crashed out of Liege because I wanted to see them compete. I would honestly like to see them both at the top of their game doing something spectacular together.

All I did in this thread was offer reasonable explanations for why some people seem to rag on him more than others. I did not teach anyone a lesson, although reading lessons would be advisable for many here. This place really is a tinderbox since somehow it was read into my commentary that I am one of the haters. Nothing anyone has said here has even addressed my points, such is the rage that fills their cup.

That potential Liege battle was definitely a missed opportunity. I hope we still get to see them battling it out in Lombardi this year.

This thread may be more of a tinderbox due to the very defensive positions some fans take and a few 'haters' who basically admit they don't like Remco at all and enjoy his failures. All in all I think it's ok here and the word hater is a bit exaggerated. We are all fans of cycling so we can appreciate great performances of any athlete. However, if you go out to Twitter or other media for the masses things get much worse, in particular in Belgium.

Did he plan to do Lombardia before he caught Covid and had to pivot? Can´t remember.

I think the initial big goals for the season were Giro, Worlds, and Lombardia, with the main focus of the WC being the ITT.

Lombardia isn't really a race you schedule cut out immediately after you come out of the Vuelta, I think you just see where the form is going after the Vuelta. Last year he didn't do it cause he got married.
