Me thinking the entire time, WVA sprint has been bad all season, Evenepoel worked on his sprint, there is a chance. And somehow he went and did it. Not gonna lie. Against Pogacar and MVDP this would not yet be good enough. But after all that happened and the shoulder maybe never fully healed i'll more than take this. Honestly I was expecting top 15. Not quite this.

What a comeback start. Doesn’t say a lot for the next weeks against Pogi, but it’s looking good for some good results. Recovering for Sunday will be tough, expect more from him in Liege.

Race wasn't long enough to see how good he is imho. The peloton actually came back 30s when he was doing a lot of work in front. That would never happen when he is 100%... or when the peloton is more tired after a longer race.
He is probably not top yet. He said himself that his heartrate raced to 200. However, with Blackmore and WVA "cooked" and the wind playing a role, it was also not the ideal race to stay in front of the peloton.

Isn’t that a good thing? Means he can go deep again

I must confess as happy as I am that Evenepoel won, and i wanted him to win the battle with Van Aert. I also knew I was going to feel bad for whoever got second. It's a pity both could not win today. As both had hard crashes that clearly impacted them and took away quite a bit.

Van Aert losing the sprinter jersey and climber jersey in the vuelta, his sprint legs and maybe more cause that vuelta injury def. is having repercussions on him.
Evenepoel maybe suffering permanent damage to his shoulder, losing out on several races and coming back with a training deficit

Both def. 'deserve' to get a nice race like the Brabantse Pijl under their belt. Really happy with Evenepoel win and performance. He will need to improve even more to compete with Pogacar but great performance on his comeback all the same. Yet slightly sad that Van Aert gets another slight knock, dude needs a break and a victory.

If there is something I have no doubt about is Remco's engine I think with a 200 km race he wins salo today. For the ardennes he probably lacks some punch in the steeper stuff to compete for the win.

In the beginning a bit bad, I thought Wout was going to drop him and win. But eventually he came through and was better than Wout. Might be because Wout was just more tired, so not sure what to expect in a real cobbled race like RVV.
This was what I saw as well.

I don't know how much was cobbles, or he was just gassed in the first hard accelerations though. Not the hardest cobbles.

Wout went from 51" on the cobbled Moskes part to 1:01 and 1:00. Remco had less trouble maintaining these times.
On the training day I saw him, he did 1:10 for 5 times back to back, only that fast descent as rest in between. So I knew the cobbled climbs wouldn't be a problem. It's also how fast you recover after the top. I see him maybe getting dropped a couple times in RVV but not losing contact if there are some riders a bit more explosive on these.

Wout was dropped a couple of times at RVV.
