A not confirmed confirmation on belgian news outlet from an insider source. Apparantly the deal is so far along it's impossible to turn back. Red Bull pays 2 million euro buyout. Deal remco will sign will be for at least the next 3 years.

Guess we'll know in 7 days

If buyout happens as of right now, and he rides for red bull from august instead of in january, i wonder if there was any pressure to ride the tdf from soudal.
I doubt it, but it would be an interesting thought , if it weren't so obvious that remco wanted to ride the tour.

yes cause signing a talented rider is something red bull definitely does not want to do.
Just imagine, them signing a rider that gives them guaranteed victories, media attention, ... . what a stupid thing to do.
It's not like that conglomerate red bull is lying on piles of money. They need to think real hard on where they spend their pennies.

Not all victories are worth it.

Can’t imagine it will be for this year already. Would be very weird for all parties

wow the aversion from certain posters towards remco is quite something.
I guess remco is one those people you either like or dislike. few people seem to be neutral about him.

Yeah, it probably will be for january. though it might be better to swap sooner. That way you don't need to find you're footing at the start of the new season. But January prob. makes more sense.

if Denk still considers signing Evenepoel they should fire him.
Well they should anyway after yesterday - ok it was not his decisions directly but as general manager he is somehow responsible.

unless it is Red Bull themselves making the decision, if he is leaving

And it would cost them pennies compared to what catering to Max Verstappen costs them in one practice session. And they spend alot of pennies on cars, suicidal bat-suit pilots and many other penny costing things.

This would be a serious marketing decision as much as a racing decision IMO. They'll need Remco to perform in that situation. He's not such a compelling personality they can sell the move on that.

His Max-like, outspoken personality maybe something of value actually.

so, Remco went to the tour without the proper base, couldn't train due to allergies, had a broken rib (maybe that is why he couldn't train not the allergies, maybe he broke it during his Dauphine crash), and had a significant illness

A miracle he was able to be in third after 13 stages. Shows his talent
Huh ? he already had allergies last year and i doesn't have anything to do with his last altitude camp before the tour. It was never mentioned by the rider nor the team.

Maybe they view Remco as the cycling team's version of Max Verstappen

Ultimately, it is Red Bull's call since they are the majority team owner

Particularly a rider who is now ranked 45th (or thereabouts) ALL-TIME at age 25 (and despite many, many injury and illness delays). If he has no further major issues, he will likely be top ten ALL-TIME before he turns 30, if not higher. A really terrible pick-up by Bora for sure. Who the F would want that on your team. Just because he isn’t 2024-25 Pog, he is still the second best all round rider of this generation. lol!

Ever since the bike rumour went around, i felt like a deal was just a matter of time. Today news outlets are claiming it's more or less good to go according to an insider.

Yet at the same time, remco let it known during the stage to the commentators he was sick in bed at start of the week and hasn't signed anything.

Personally i think all this means is that the deal is mostly done, but it ain't august 1 yet, so nothing has been signed. And till it's signed things can still happen.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch and all that.

The top10 all time is filled with guys that won multiple GTs (including multiple Tours).
I don't see that happening at all for Remco, let alone within the next 5 years. Not likely at all.
Fantastic rider tho.

Like Kelly and Valverde?

This post is almost not worth replying to. Ridiculous if u think all that matters is GTs.

Without MAJOR injury, he is odds-on to make top ten, maybe top 5, and possibly top three after Merckx and Pog.

Look at where Indurain and LeMond are. GTs are only part of the equation.
