You asked a question on a forum , and several people responded. Not just me.
You just don't seem to enjoy my input in the matter, but that ain't my problem.

I just gave my opinion on the matter, and you are now making it personal.
Not me.
Dude, don't disturb what I said please. I asked this question in a proper thread because after reading Berniece's (and I asked him here, but only to him) answer, I was curious to know what the forum think about this. Again, in a PROPER thread, for that reason I asked moderators to move this conversation to other thread since this is not about Remco. Somehow you felt insulted with this.
This conversation is over, have a nice day.

Bump.

just my helping hand preventing RE coming a second page rider.........In the CN forum
No worries. In 5 days this thread is again buzzing with energy whatever he does. Probably we get discussions of about his final climbing exam again for the 27th time, the usual weight discussions and people addressing phantom Remco fans here that they believe think he is the new Eddy Merckx.

Has he been sick?
Could he train at altitude according to plan?
Is he in some kind of shape for Catalunya?
Or has he only trained for the Ardennes?

I wonder how much is true about UAE being a wake up call and switching to a more climber focused training, instead of explosive training to try and hold an acceleration longer. Or wether that was always the plan given remco his schedule.
And UAE just empathised the need for more climbing. Focus on base and longer accel first, then build up the climbing towards the tour.

In any case i don't see him beating an inform vingegaard at Catalunya. I'd love to be be surprised but i'm doubtful.
I actually think he might have a better chance at the tour than in Catalunya against vingegaard.
That's wishful thinking perhaps, but he should be on his best form then if nothing goes wrong. And he should come into the tour fully prepped for the mountains, needing less explosiveness once the ardennes classics are over.

I actually hope nothing happens (crash wise) and i can finally determine wether he can hold for 3 weeks without a blip or nor. Wether 2024 was just a one/off, or wether he can be consistent over 3 weeks when prepped and ready. Much i fear will also be determined by his mindset. He's got a winner mentality, but he's also a bit fragile mentally imo when it comes to stress of being a race favourite for one of his big goals.

I know many are already certain he'll suffer at least 1 bad day during a GT. Thathe can't hold steady for 3 weeks.
I'm undecided. What i've seen when he was healthy and prepped gives me hope, but when he ain't gives me doubts.

Vingegaard was much better than others in Paris-Nice, but that doesn't say much. It's not like we could've seen what Vingegaard is really capable off. I still have high hopes that they will be close together and we get a nice race

He has been very quiet but this is good, no pressure, no noise around him to hamper his preparation, I think he will show up in good shape for the Ardennes.

There are certain races that riders should participate in during their careers and MSR is one of them. For me, it doesn't matter that it doesn't "fit into" the plans. Especially since we have Pogacar, MvdP, Del Toro, Roglic, Van Aert, Pidcock, Peterson, etc., all the more reason why Evenepoel, Vingegaard, Ayuso (well, he has an excuse), Seixas, in short, all the Bigs, should be there. Think of the sectacle. MSR is just one of those iconic races that should be on everybody's (among those previously mentioned) schedule. The race will be great, but could be even better. Peccato.

Yeah, it's stupid. Volta a Catalunya has 3 easy stages before we hit the mountains. Plenty of time to recover after MSR.

Apparently he's stuck on Teide due to storm and snow. He can't even get down the mountain at this point.

He's supposed to fly tomorrow to Catalunya but he's not even sure he can make it to the airport.

It'll probably work out in the end though I guess.

Of course, how bad at operations must you be if you can't find a single workable solution to get them down...

Remco can descend by bike from Teide Caldera to the airport in less than an hour ;) If some road fragment is damaged or blocked, one can hike down, it's easy in this direction :p

For some reason I don't feel Remco and Oumi are the type of people that hike. I might be wrong of course

Remco is an aerobic monster. Hiking 12-15 km through some snow (with 200-300 meters up) to a lower elevation town is a joke for him (he's not like a normal tourist). If Oumi doesn't want it Remco can carry her, at least some challenge for him!

But he shouldn't be doing any upper body workouts right now.

Remco after hiking down with Oumi on his back:
