Agree, Lipowitz has said that it isn‘t about the results and it‘s about the ‚learning‘ and racing together with Remco, but I think he‘s got to Top 5 here or he‘ll just look bad. He‘s also said they‘re working on his explosivity, so maybe they‘re using black magic to transfer fast-twitch muscle fibers from Roglič into Lipo and Remco to turn both of them into mountain sprinters.

The last known mountain sprinter won 2 WCs, some GT's and a couple of monuments lately.
Understandable strategy.

Understandable strategy.

The last known mountain sprinter has beaten this guy consistently on all terrains, all sprinting.

Anyway, important test tomorrow, for Remco and Lipo, lets see on how it goes.

That's the point! Remco and Jonas each had 4 teammates Lidl seemed willing to help as well, and Remco went and screwed it up. They could have put Almeida out by as much as 2 minutes, but once Remco went the impetus went right out of the group. Then Remco is battling the sprint teams and the other GC teams not named Red Bull or Visma for any potential time gain with his #1 rival on his wheel. The right time to sit up would have been the moment Jonas caught him. It was entertaining I'll admit that.
Clearly they don't consider Almeida a GC rival, otherwise a top priority would be to gain time. For example, if Pogacar was in Almeida's situation, everyone in the front would ride 100%

Remco should use the terrain when its suits him, even when he sees an opportunity in a flat section or when it's just a few seconds in a sprint. He should do it more, not less. He needs to attack, especially in a race without TT. He knows that on the steep climbs he needs to ride defensive. He will, most mikely, lose time against a PN-level Vingegaard. So while his tactic was probably wrong, as he should have used his team to eliminate Almeida, an offensive strategy is what he needs here to beat Vingegaard.
