I cannot see any functional reason for why Dennis has opted to use a BMC in the road race.
It's got to be "*** you" to Merida, Bahrein and Rudy Project, nothing else. Very unprofessional.

I cant see anyone other then Ineos signing him, even then he will probably seethe over equipment.
As I said somewhere, Merida makes only 3 sizes of TT bike, with the medium expected to c suit riders 167cm to around 183cm. That's not going to suit everyone.I cant see anyone other then Ineos signing him, even then he will probably seethe over equipment.
Now we know why he rode on BMC equipment. Termination kept quiet by both parties until the WC had finished.Bahrain-Merida terminate Rohan Dennis' contract with immediate effect
Australian has been a free agent since September 13www.cyclingnews.com
The contract with Bahrain was terminated on the 13th of September.
Probably creates less fuss if he rides on a non painted BMC bike.So... they terminated the contract on September 13, but only made it public now in order to "allow him undisputed preparation". However, I can't help but wonder if they'd made it public earlier, then there might not have been all the "he's not on a Merida bike!" talk...
Welcome aboard, Rohan. Now we don’t want you to actually contest any Grand Tour TT stages, because we want you to save your energy to sit on the front for 160kms/day for 3 weeks."How much budget do we have for Dennis"
"Yes."
~Ineos right now
Expecting Dennis signing to be immediately followed by a rumor about a 50km TTT in the Tour. Queens stage to La Plance de Belles FillesWelcome aboard, Rohan. That's it. Probably an attempt to give Merida some dignityProbably creates less fuss if he rides on a non painted BMC bike.
This. He’s the ITT WC. Any team that is confident in its equipment would be happy to have him.
Not GC at a GT, anyway, but I’m sure they’d let him go for it at Suisse again, or other week-long stage races (California, Eneco) that (usually) have a decent length TT, and don’t get in the way of winning the Tour.Well if he still wants GC chances he won't be going to INEOS
This.
As long as his new team has a TT bike that fits and handles correctly I doubt he will care which brand it is.
