Also compare Bennett’s in-play reaction to Pöstlberger going clear on the first stage of the 2017-Giro (shouting go-go-go! on the radio) to Jakobsen’s strop towards Senechal in the Vuelta.

It could actually be that Bennett was not well-liked in the team? Lefevere is boorish, but he's not stupid.
A few days after Lefevere first blasted Bennett, Morkov renewed his contract. In the past the likes of Gaviria and Viviani brought lead out guys with them as top sprinters tend to do.
I thought that was quite an interesting development as who wouldn’t want Morkov?

It's funny reading stuff like this guys posts.... the cycling equivalent of stumbling into a QANON message board... Imagine following the whole story and just selectively ignoring Pat's slandering his rider for months in the media.

It’s excellent stuff. Bennett failed in 2019, which he demonstrated by winning 11 WT races plus a couple of others. And his sport level in 2021 was low, which he demonstrated by winning 70% of all bunch sprints he contested before his injury. Hardcore quickstep fans really are a different breed.

I don't know if it's the same guy or not but the Sam Bennett thread on an Irish general news forum had someone rattling on completely derailing the thread with very similar language.
It's nonsense and not an argument even worth having

He didn't win any WT race, he won 11 stages in WT races.

First man to lose touch with the peleton of little over 5 mins of riding on the EC...

I'm guessing he's just riding this race to make sure Lefevere can't cut his paycheck.

But why would that stop his paycheck from being cut? He isn't racing for DQS but Ireland.

Especially since PL was complaining they don't want to race him as he is unfit and refuses to do their training data. Being dropped 5 minutes into the race doesn't help his notion.

Edit: Though he is back in the peloton as of a minute ago.

Weird Irish selection for a lumpy race. Bennett and Mullen were never going to be up to much on that route, but clearly Martin, Roche and Healy all wanted to do the ToB. Is Dunbar over his Covid diagnosis?

We will probably not use our full allocation anyway so might as well take him
Roche and Martin posted a “last race against each other” pic on social meedja after the ToB, it didn’t read like they would both be going to Worlds, but you’d assume at least one of them would be…

PCS says Roche and Mullen so far.

They got Richeze especially for Gaviria. And Sabatini being an Italian just like Viviani surely did help. Morkov on the other hand joined the team 2 years prior to Bennett and rode for basically everyone on their roster. Jakobsen, Hodeg, Viviani, Gaviria, you name it. He never had any special connection to Bennett to be honest. Very different from Richeze who worked solely for Gaviria and nobody else.

We apparently have 6 spots which was a bit of a surprise to me
