I think it's very hars on Vacansoleil if they don't get an inventation for the tour, they are a better equipe then some protourteams, especially the french ones. And the only reason BMC could be invited and vacans not is because of Evans as the worldchamp, the rest of that team isn't doing anything

It's Phonak 2, they're not getting in ;)

It's really a disgrace. Two GT starts in Holland, no wild cards for Dutch teams. The organizers have trouble enough trying to make ends meet. This won't help.

Not at all unexpected but how dull - now we know exactly what kind of race to expect and it won't be pretty never mind interesting.

wildcards: radioshack, sky, cervelo. garmin, katuysha, bmc (according to l'equipe)

Thats pretty poor, both racing wise and politically from ASO...

Vascan have been supporting the political side with money towards races, and the racing side by racing hard every time. Has BMC even won anything this season?

I was looking forward to Liewe Westra continuing to bring the hurt to Cart Brownstrong in the TTs...

I don't get the hubbub. To me it was quite obvious which teams would be selected back in January. And so it proved.

I really don't get it. There are X spots and X teams way ahead of the others, in my personal view.

Am disappointed for Vaconsoleil. Every race I've seen recently they seemed to be really making the effort and i'm sure could hve picked up the odd stage win even if no real GC contenders.:(

Vacansoleil as a whole is a stronger team than BMC. The problem is that BMC has some top tier riders, and Vacansoleil doesn't.

I'm still maintaining that Footon won't get an invite. Nobody wants to take me up on my 10 euro bet?

Footon are auto included, they only got kicked last year when the doping blew up their roster.

edit; Susan said it already

And Isso, how are BMC ahead of Vascan? Both Pro-Conti level, one has more wins and has be financial helping the ASO?

Having the World Champion present is a big help in terms of publicity and TV transmissions.

Not to mention that having Ballan and others also brings in the crowds

Really undeserving for vacansoleil, they try so hard to get in the picture, even sponsor ASO races and then ASO let them fall for the FW and LBL, and now also the tour. And a team like BMC who has done s*** till now gets an invetation because Evans rides there. Really harsh on them to not invite them for the classics they like the most and the tour

I can only agree with what has been said by many!! Very disappointed for Vacansoleil!! What the heck do they have to do to get an invite?? Also, not having a overall contender is nothing...most teams in the Tour don't have a legit "contender"!! This really sucks!

Vacansoleil robbed. By far the most successful of the teams after that final spot.
Boy, haven't the ASO changed their philosophy, since the PT began, even though they hate it!
AusCF will be delighted, but I now see Evans pulling out of the Giro, which he could have possibly won and missing out on a Tour podium.

It's better to just get a big name than to do everything else right for 2 years.

Footon doesn't need a wild card as it is automatically included.

Shame that Vacansoleil or Saur-Sojasun don't get a break while this outbreak of flesh-coloured duffers gets to parade around France on autopilot. Ain't no justice in that. :(

Exactly!! Vacansoleil have been so strong all spring...even Skil has more wins than BMC!! Both Skil and Vac have done things the right way...but that way has now changed...pay big bucks for a "star" to get the invite!!! Shame!
