If I recall correctly there was always doubt among the majority as to Contador being able to do the double. Andy Schleck was the favorite, with the Tour being his to lose. Evans was thought of as making the podium and possibly able to take advantage of Andy Schleck's remarkable ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and that is pretty much what he and Leopard did with their questionable tactics early in the race. Contador was not the heavy favorite. Certainly many had hopes that he could complete the double but with such a challenging Giro parcours there were more doubters than believers. I for one felt he could have won but of course luck didn't fall his way.

Add to that the avatar-bets thread...so no, you don't recall correctly.
Thanks for linking those threads. What I find interesting is the directeurs sportif's predictions.

(l'Equipe)

They were even more Contador-centric than we were. (Note to DS's everywhere: if you have a GC contender on your team, choose him when asked.)

For myself, I had Evans coming in fourth, later revised to third.

As for Thor moving to BMC, it's hard to see how that won't be of help to Cadel.

Love the thread title. Better for Cadel? Since when does the World Champion ride for anybody but himself?!?!

His sprint leadouts for Tyler Farrar where pathetic...well, at least he would give it a go for him for a short while, but the rest of the team were worthless.

Thor only cares about himself...Cadel will get nothing out of this situation except for egos clashing.
