How did the peloton not catch them? They were looking at each other for the last 5 km while having a 10 sec gap

Sky screwed that up. When they got to within 5 seconds, they slowed down as they didn't want to catch them 2km out from the line. They slowed down too much.

So GC is wide open now.

Wiggins still the favourite. Sky will probably rip it up in the crosswinds. Their plan was probably to get Wiggins to the finish as close as he could.

That was an excellent stage.

And fair play to Greipel. It's nice to see an out and out sprinter going for in the occasional break.

Sky weren't organised for the sprint anyway. What matters is that they didn't let Westra get any more time than just a 2nd place bonification, so Wiggo still has a shot at the GC if he doesn't lose any more time in the flat stages.

What a strange race. Again, 50k+ full on chaos racing, ending in a mass sprint, kinda.

Glad that Westra got some of the bonus seconds too here.

And the Belgian teams getting some half-decent home results again.

Westra was only 5 seconds from Tony Martin in Algarve ITT.

I'm not convinced Wiggins is now the major favorite with Westra already having some boni secnds.
