Was chatting with a mate and a question came up. It was that with his ability to win in most places other than pure high mountains, if they brought back time bonuses for the tour do you reckon Sagan could become a contender for GC? Thoughts?

No, not unless he massively improves his climbing or gets a Tour route made up entirely of sprints and uphill sprints, with no big mountains or long TT's.

None chance whatsoever. He would have to radically change his body to even be put into consideration. He's actually bulked up the past year to do better in the sprints. On a long mountain stage he will easily lose over half an hour over the top field.

Time bonuses would allow him better chance of carrying the yellow for a few days at the onset though.

Wait a minute. If the time bonuses were in effect he'd definitely be a GC contender BUT only in first week like all the Sprinters. :D

I think by 2016 Sagan will be a favorite whether there are or aren't bonuses.
