Wow Pogi is Amazing, and he's just a kid having fun riding his bike. Hopefully Rogla will at least make a race of it when they meet. Who else is there to take Pogi on?
At least both Slovenians don't do the tour build-up races as they both favoured a 2 month altitude training camp last year instead of racing. Pog only did Tour Slovenia + Slovenia Champs after Liege and Roglic raced nothing after Liege so we should get a competitive Romandie & Dauphine at least! Small consolation.

Pog should go for the double already this year..
let the monuments for later..

I think it is better they manage the kid right, so that he has many years left. Instead of burning him out too early.

Unless he really wants to. Pog being happy is the main thing I think for him to perform.

Why are you guys so down on the Tour already? What do you realistically prefer - an 'open' race where people ride defensively for marginal gains (see what I did there) or a race that blows up like today with huge time differences with a little less suspense of the final outcome? Basically, do you prefer the Giro of 2011 or 2012? Tour 2021 or Tour 2017? The answer is pretty clear for me. Also, lets see what Jumbo has to offer in July, Vingegaard and Roglic can contest Pogacar on their days, although I must admit it looks hard. It kinda reminds me of the Armstrong vs Telekom/T-Mobile years in the mid 00's. It sucks that Bernal is out since Jumbo is the only team I can see that can do anything against such a complete and insanely talented rider as Pogacar - the best rider I have ever seen. Armstrong, Basso, Ullrich, Boonen, Valverde, Cancellara, Contador, Wout... nope, Pogacar is the best.

Pog said he attacked because he was getting cold, I don't think he's even going beyond his limit if he can decide to attack based on statements like that haha!

He turns 24 after the Vuelta this year, three years after making his first GT podium. A good time to do a second GT in a year, and next year is as good a time as any other to try the Giro-Tour double.

Buut, wouldn't it be worth to try to make the double now when he seems genuinely capable of doing so even if this means compromising his chances to win another Tour?

I mean some think he's gonna dominate cycling for the next 10 years and that's ofc possible, but there's also posibilty that what we're seeing now is the prime Pogacar and now it's the best time for him to try to do the double (recovery capabilites decline with age). Even if he fails and let's say wins the Giro but loses the Tour, I'd still say it was worth trying, as (barring crashes/injuries) he'll have plenty occasions to win another Tour title in the following years.

I want a nailbiter between almost equal rivals slugging it out mano a mano. But if it takes Rogla plus Vingegaard to at least make a fight of it that would be fine. Just so Pogi doesn't ride away with it unopposed!

I understand that. We dont know how many years he will have and it would be good to try before it is too late. Totally get that.

I think Pog should decide if that is what he wants do and go for it. He has kind of said though that he is not all about the GTs . Showing that he is capable of winning so much more. Becoming a real legend in this sport. He wants to win many races and different ones. In true cannibal fashion.

Guys if you ever think you made a bad decision, Jumbo decided to target the Vuelta with Roglic in 2019 cause they wanted Groenewegen to the Tour

You mean Giro, right? Because he wouldn't be ready for Tour after Giro (crash and stomach issue).

I read somewhere that Roglic wanted full leadership and not have a sprinter in his team, so Jumbo decided to go Kruijswijk/Groenewegen to the Tour and go Giro/Vuelta with Roglic

Ah yes, the time when Jumbo managment was still incompetent. They literally had Roglič who was competing with Thomas and Dumoulin in the Tour the previous year and was winning 1 week stage races left and right. And they sent him to the Giro with zero support. They also made him do Romandie on top form 1 week before the Giro. Not to mention he was at the team for three years and they still thought he was better suited to the Giro (long endurance climbs, cold and rain) than to the Tour... it is easy to be a general after the battle. But seeing Kruijswijk was less than a minute off a Tour win... it is easy to say they threw an easy Tour win away.

Yes, I agree with this. Tour de France champion winning in the same season biggest one day races sounds equally if not more impressive than doing Giro-Tour double.

Seeing Tadej attack last week on a dangerous downhill gravel section... I have a big fear he will be 2 minutes ahead of every GC contender after the cobbles stage in the Tour. Nibali style. And unfortunatelly I then expect the rest of the Tour also looking simmilar to 2014.
