Remco raced in Mallorca and Valencia to get some confidence. He was winning Mickey mouse races, the first real test he had this season, he was humiliated and he expected to win UAE Tour. In Catalunya, he will be better but he will also have better competition and in better shape compared to early February (e.g. Almeida). I constantly see posts about Remco still didn't go to altitude and will improve significantly and I just ask "Is everyone bar Remco peaking in February?" Of course not, and a lot of gc riders didn't also go to altitude (e.g. Del Toro, Almeida).
Jonas will also race Catalunya

I have obviously been watching in an alternative reality. Roglic is a silent killer, guy is not showy doesn't get all dramatic but certainly could come up with one surge and get time back.. Unlikely but possible. Pellizzari , Ciccone, Jorgenson all great racers, all could trade spots in GC with alternative luck by any of them. Jorgenson probably talking to himself all night asking the question.. What if I didn't crash? Someone wrote Boro in shambles or something similar.. Not from what I have seen, Remco might have eaten a s***sandwich recently but he has form and started the year with cake and ice cream. If people were not expecting Roglic to be productive, Merry Christmas, the guy is right there..Lipowitz is so far spotty but all is not lost
Del Toro is human.. Not as human as Tiberi but human..
This race has been excellent. Lots of talent showing through. Ciccone definitely put the wheels back on after a bad day. Even EF has a ray of hope here and there.

Moral winner of the stage - Richard carapaz
Just watched the replay of the stage. Was a pretty good one, but the only thing I really felt compelled to come here and comment on was how great Carapaz looks on a bike when he's attacking. Now you just went and made my idea look very un-spontaneous. :D

Congratulations to Isaac del Toro Romero for winning the stage.

It seems that RBH settled for defending with Giulio and from that point of view the team rode good and on the ultimate climb, with a couple of exchanges in between Rogla and Giulio they managed to put some pressure on the race leader. Giulio was even in position to go for the overall but the rider with strongest legs won today. RBH managed to defend the second place in GC to Visma and that honestly is not something to take lightly either. Tomorrow should be hectic, as second and third in GC are a second apart. Might turn out to be interesting.

A bunchsprint royale most likely, but there are opportunities for a powerful break to go up the road.
Live pics before the first climb would be ideal.

Well, Visma lost the 2nd place mostly because of Jorgenson's crash on the gravel. Pellizzari was dropped at the time.
Jorgenson was the stronger rider through the week (did a lot of work for Van Aert as well on stage 4), so I don't think Visma will lose any sleep between 2nd and 3rd position.

You don't think he is specifically doing this effort with next week in mind?
Or its race tactics?
Obviously the trainers idea to prep for MSR
He was doing the exact same thing in the final stage last year.

It's a shorter effort than being in the break all day or hanging on as long as Van Aert did yesterday
