Surprised to see so many top sprinters here like Milan, Philipsen, Magnier and of course Gaviria. Last stage is surely a sprint, but stage 3 and 4 shouldnt have many sprinters survive. Especially stage 4 looks perfect for a big strong break to create havoc. Good luck to the team trying to control break formation on Ovindolli. Hopefully some GC names are playing along here.

Stage 3 is a guaranteed sprint. And with Paris-Nice having just the one flat sprint today plus yesterday's stage, that makes this the more sprinter-friendly route this week.

he said that he took it a bit easier this year after peaking too early in 2025, when he ran out of gas before Roubaix.

So I'd think it's rather unlikely, given that the route is normally too hard for him.

I expect a decent time from MVDP too. He trained on his ITT bike, and I guess purely for today. If he does it well, he could get the leaders jersey tomorrow and keep it until stage 5 and maybe even stage 6.

Edit, in a tribute to Fausto Coppi, I decided to Coppi and Paste the profiles in this post up to the OP.

Now that the detailed profiles are out, I'm positively surprised, especially by the difficulty of the finale of stage 5. Stage 6 always looked difficult enough, but this is a really, really nice mix of stages.

I was thinking the same, I didn't realise how much the stage profiles flatten out the final climbs.
