1)Gesink
2) Evans +10
3) Basso +12

nice podium already.

GC has closed right up, with Scarponi only 15s behind, promises the next two days will be decisive. You may have said tomorrow would be a sprint but after seeing the way they were behaving after 200km today it looks like an attack will win it (a little 800m ramp with 6-7km to go).

Wow, an BS excuse within 5 minutes. You outdo yourself.

Scarponi was just better. In the lead for so long and still held on. Cunego attacked a couple of times before Evans and easily held on. Evans was too far back and just failed like he usually does when he tries to win something. :)

/He'll prolly win TA though :D
Erm, no! Evans was way back when the attacks went. Open your eyes. So was Gesink!

Yeah, replace Evans with A Schleck and you have the next TDF podium :D

If Evans wasn't so far back he would of won! Great team work by BMC! Nicely set up by Van avermaet!!

and if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle

He was so far back, because he wasn't fast enough when it counted.
He got better the further they went.
As ak-zaaf says, a BS excuse.

Be happy he showed decent form, but Scarponi and Cunego were better.

Madrazo has definitely woken up. About time he believed in himself.

Pretty impressed with Scarponi, Evans and Hushovd. Gesink not too good but not too bad either, and if he improves a little he might take the race.

Looked like he came from really far back, but that's his own mistake. I also think these kinda finishes will never be his specialty allthough it looks like he's getting better at short climbs.

Was Rodriguez up there anywhere in the top 20?

It's a good thing he isn't in form...means he'll peak at the right time in May!

One thing for sure.

Evans may not have been good enough to win, but ACF would have got an erection.

That's what I said, he was there himself. Prolly not good enough at that moment. Scarponi was. So the best won.

He shouldn't be that far when the climb started. And how dare you accuse other people of fanboyism :p

He was far back and Scarponi was the best. Even so, Cadel, Greg and Ale all positioned badly. Lets wait and see for tommorow!

Well done by the Lampre guys, specially Scarponi ofcourse.

Also much love for Evans. He came from too far back though, just like Gesink who was even further back. I don't understand why they were positioned so poorly as it cost them in the end. Maybe not that good course knowledge?

Great stage though. Last 20km when I tuned in were a pleasure to watch.

another 240K tomorrow. That'll sap some energy.

the final TT is pretty short, but also very straightforward. Not technical minus a 180 turn halfway. That's what it looks like going by the map only, so I am guessing it favors the real TTists.

More excitement in the last 20k than the whole of Paris-Nice so far. Its about length and parcour.. And better riders.

It's a warm up to the classics... and in return produces some proper classics racing.

The course isn't very exciting (for those complaining about P-N) - two TTs, two sprint stages, two selective stages and one in between. Not sure if it's the length, or the types of riders present which made today so eventful.

Gesink always starts these small climbs too far back and makes up a lot in the end, it has cost him precious seconds on this kind of finish. He will always remain more of a diesel, but he shouldn't underrate his own explosiveness.

You never see him at the beginning, and look, there he is at the end.

I think you're reading into it a bit too much this time. I think he was just saying Evans was too far back and the way he wound up near the finish...well if he had positioned himself better he might've won.

once in a blue moon bmc are riding well in two different races!

How far up is Morabito on the GC?

Showing in the breakaway is not success. :D
