Tom Boonen is on his ***, looks like Stuey O'Grady fell as well.

Cav had to go from MILES out, Haedo very very nearly had him.

Cav is running out of team mates.

Apparently the split was caused by a crash, so no time gaps because inside 3km to go.

ANOTHER crash! How are people falling on these big open roads?

Those huge teams that get invites to the biggest races in the world, but don't have the experience of racing at the top level, perhaps?

Boonen looks bad.

Shame...

Will be interesting to see if any big names clamped on to the split and gained some seconds.

Phil and Paul think there won't be any time gaps, since the gaps were caused by crashes in the last 3km.

Cav is certainly not back to world-beating form yet, he did have to go from farther out than he probably would have liked but he should be obliterating guys like Haedo.

Hmmm... Looked like there were splits long before anyone hit the deck. But whatever.

reports coming through it was a moto rider swerved that made the peloton swerve that caused the crash

Looking on the CN website tomorrow looks a bit more exciting. A stage where someone like Martens or Sagan might fancy a go.

weird, I thought I saw LA in the wind chasing as hard as possible, the small sprinter field with only 500m to go or less.. to what point? training i guess... he wasn't leading any team mate. Haedo did a good sprint, thought maybe he had a chance for a second there!! was hoping fabian and jens would've taken a flyer off the front with 1k to go..

Haedo is a pretty good sprinter. His problem is the mountains. When there's no climbing he's always in the fight for the win.

NOOOOO!!!

Are you SERIOUS???? The Fourth GT better find some support staff that doesn't endanger the lives of their 'superlative field'

Look at those beautifully straight pearly whites! I'm sure they are well worth all of the time off the bike.

Aren't they from the ASO?

ASO own part of the race, but i imagine that they don't organize stuff locally. AEG (the other part owner) probably does that; or delegates to someone else.

Or it's too narrow roads and too much road furniture?

this is whats coming through on twitter from multiple sources. moto rider swerved to avoid a rider next to it, which in turn caused swerving that caused the crash.. wait to see what the organisers say

im rewinding now to see if i can make it out

oh, there was a fair split in the feild by 2k before the crash. probably about 6-7 seconds after the front group of about 30 riders

Great result by Kristoff! Know he would be up there in the sprint as the peloton were soft-pedaling all day.

If they ride that pace tomorrow it will be another bunch finish, I hope someone at least attempts to push the pace on the climbs.
