Grand Tour podium, where the hell did that come from? Pretty wild result!
Pidcocks time to shine. He’ll make the leap from the teenies to the tens.
Bernal will rediscover himself. I put him to be third but can it happen probably not.
Vingo will win, how boring
Top ten

Vingegaard
Almeida
Carapaz
Aysuo
Bernal
Tiberi
Pelizzari
Gall
Pidders
Jorgensen
You’re welcome ! Even better than I expected though

This won’t be Pidcocks last podium, great progression
I did not see this coming, but focusing more on road is definitely helping! Q36.5 have to be over the moon with him this year; I was worried he might be lost for awhile adapting to a new team and environment but he is going great there. Good show to him; he's a fighter, more to come from him.

A great result although clearly tom would love to have won a stage, (and probably would of). Somewhat makes up for a poor Ardennes by his standards and probably some validation for the anonymous 3 weeks at the giro which set up this result.
Be interesting to see how he comes out of it with the worlds and Italian classics. Said he was feeling really good in this last week.

Wonder what he'll focus on now? Road and gravel WC coming up, but after that? Tough to give up MTB when you're the best in the world, tough to give up CX completely when you're good enough to win a worlds, tough to stop focussing on Classics when you've won 3, tough to not focus completely on GTs when you've pretty much matched Almeida and Hindley when it goes uphill.

Still wonder about his Q365 decision. Realistically they aren't gonna be able to provide the support against the big boys, regardless.

I think he should leave CX behind. He won't win anything as long as MVDP is still interested, and I think guys like Nys and del Grosso could surpass him soon if they remain committed to that discipline. Ramp up the MTB again towards the 2028 Olympics.

I was wrong about him but I still don't believe he can be on the podium in the Tour or Giro. Still, my prediction was completely off (outside of top5) since he was the third best rider in this race.
He can easily podium the Giro IMO.
Depends on the parcour but that is an overrated factor IMO. Strength of competition is the bigger factor.
The Tour is a different game because the aliens race it on another level.

No he can't. We also thought Leipheimer could win the Giro d'Italia after he was 2nd at the 2008 Vuelta a Espana.

And that race actually had a proper TT additionally to the 1 1/2 true mountain stages.

He suffered a lot in the queen stage of this Vuelta and the stage wasn't that hard
Stage at pace for final @30k was punishment for all involved. Last kilometres with super super big aggregate looked tough , you have to sit or your wheel will skip and chatter if you get your torso too far forward! Watch the replay, Pidcock has what looks like lower cadence than the others, if that's even possible!
Pidcock just powering down.. Drive train sponsors take note if that didn't break the chain nothing will! Other riders looked better than Tom but he just hung tough. Regardless of wins he is in the mix and he is really smart about keeping a wheel and has an "I don't give up" factor as high as anyone in racing. I am personally confused because he doesn't look fast but he is decent in sprints also.. I hope next year is his breakout.

I was thinking he could perhaps just get a top 10 if he was lucky. He far exceeded my expectations. I never viewed him as a serious GC rider, but he has definitely proven himself now. I think the Giro and the Tour are much harder for him, but if he can carry on the good trend, maybe he can also get better results there.

Just look at the Giro this year. It was soft. No disrespect to del Toro but he gets cracked on Angliru and Mundo.
Ciccone was in contention before he crashed out in the Giro. Bernal finished top 10 comfortably.
As I said the competition is the most important factor.

Leipheimer was nowhere near the talent Pidcock is.
As a climber & time trialist it's actually the exact opposite.

I know Leipheimer isn't liked on this forum, because he was a super boring rider. But that guy won on top of the Rettenbachferner beating Ullrich & Evans.

That statement is nearly comically wrong if we talk about the characteristics needed for a GC rider!
