I think that in both races he relied on his teaam too much which cost him victories.
Today, part of his team was in the lead group when Wellens attacked, and Pidcock wasn't with them.
Perhaps he had a flat tire.

The other day was a mistake; in echelons, it's better to be on top.

These are races he´d surely have won with Ineos' support. He seems more comfortable in this team, but it's a handicap in many scenarios.
