Glad to see him back and swinging today. Let's hope he's able to make this weekend more interesting.

The more strong riders working against a foregone conclusion, the better!
I dont get why he is at this dinky tour, isn't he better off doing proper training. Is this old school racing to get fit? Haven't Pog and MVDP proven that proper training and targeting fewer races is the key to success.

Four days away from a race, the hay is either in the barn or it isn't. That stage race is about intensity and polish.

Wasn't he dropped before he came back in the descend?

Its racing as hard training, they didnt want to leave too big a gap from Catalunya to the Tour without a race in-between for him and he's basically starting from scratch, his form is nearer the 7min he lost the day before, not what he had.

As he also said post stage he got dropped on the first climb, wasn't sure he'd even be in the mix at the end but the team committed to it.

Apparently he wasn't allowed to do any training for 11 days, which is possibly first time in his racing life he'd done that , probably hence the stress fractures on the scan too

He seems very good at peaking for big events and is still in crash recovery mode from reports. He is likely doing the old school training, as you suggest.

For sure but thats another 6-7 weeks away, he may well turn up at other races in between then & now, they just didnt want to leave a 2.5-3 month race gap for him from the crash to his next race and needs to get back some racing form.

They're not looking at TdF just to be participants

He did an attack, but didn't really stretch the elastic, and than Pellizzari attacked over him and he was cooked. But then Tom came back on the descent. I don't expect him to be a factor in LBL.

That was today, I meant yesterday before he won the sprint.

But I agree, I don’t expect anything during LBL from him
