Race Radio said:Oh, he was a party.
He won the Italian championships a couple of times, in between partying. I am pretty sure he had a positive for Coke in the off season. I seem to remember he was pulled over at 3 in the morning in northern Italy with a bunch of ladies and coke in his car. His defense, no joke, was "we were just having some fun, come on everyone does coke". I also remember stories of him grabbing and drinking beers he had got from spectators on big mountain stages of the Tour. He used to come to US Pro when he rode for Secco. Two years in a row he got in a fist fight with another rider.
Always knew he would be a butterball. His teammates must have to push him over freeway overpasses. Even Ivan Quaranta is laughing at him now.
issoisso said:Actually he was a pretty good rider and climbed very well in short bursts. Typical muscular classics rider who's excellent in short punchy climbs but can't climb the longer mountain passes.
Race Radio said:Yes, he was a very good rider, I am talking about now in his current state.
