If the first ITT is really from Bar-le-Duc to Verdun, it will be at least 50km, possibly around 55km. Bavarianrider will be pleased.

And Libourne is 32km from the centre of Bordeaux, so it seems like we will have at least 85km of ITT, which is nice. It looks like we will need them given the rumours, as there are a lot of mountainous finishes.

Lot's of TT Kms is obviously going to favour Froome ... however given Sky's performance this spring he may need it to make up the 15mins he'll lose on the cobbles ;)

Risoul, PdBF, Hautacam and Plat-d'Adet is too sweet to be true. I bet ASO will go back to classic scheme: 3 MTF's 2 of which will be relatively weak.

I'd be pleased if it were 2 flat 60km+ Itt ;)

I hope for atleast a hilly time-trial. Its stupid to have to flat ones. Its extremly boring to watch because a rider loss or gain tend to be quite linear by kilometre.

And more importantly, other factors than riding in the flatt shall be tested. As an example, people tend to say Rodriquez is a bad time-trialer. But thats not true, he showed in the Embrun-Chorges stage that he actually isnt that bad. Whats true is that he is bad to race on flatter parts.

The first 10km north out of Bar-le-Duc climbs around 150m in the first 10km....and that would be the most testing section. So it will be a flat ITT.

And I don't know of many hills around Bordeaux.

The Bar-le-Duc TT is just a place holder. It's pretty sure there will be some ITT in the first week, but we don't know when.

Better hope the ruomur are false then.

Speaking about the time trials, if I'm recalling correctly, there was a rumor about ttt to Ieper (Ypres), but I don't see it listed here.
A ttt instead of an itt should balance the route a bit.
Also, if the idea is to commemorate the WW1, a ttt through the battle fields is a better choice than an itt.

Was this route still designed by Peschaux?
He retired after this year's Tour de France. But i guess next years route was roghly deceided before his retirement?
Nope, Thierry Gouvenou is the main designer from now. But Pescheux still has an eye on it until 2015, then he'll retire completely.

So what Prud'homme is doing? Is he just an actor put there to smile and doing some MC stuff? Is he having a word regarding the route?

Prudhomme has a general say in things (probably along the lines of I want two Alpe d'Huez and two time trials as well as contributing to the selection of towns), but all the work on designing a stage from A to B is done by the others.
