Cannondale for #TDF: P. Sagan, Bodnar, De Marchi, King, Koren, Marcato, Marino,
Sabatini & Viviani

Interestingly Caruso misses out. Viviani leading Sagan out?

Yeah, but who is going to make the race hard to drop sprinters on the hilly days in which Peter should be getting his wins on?

De Marchi and Koren?

I'm guessing he missed out because he's going to BMC next season? The fact is that he has been rather poor this season. De Marchi hasn't been good either though

The only good climbers for Cannondale this season have been Formolo and Bennett

Gadret, Visconti, Erviti, Herrada, Valverde, J Izaguirre, Plaza, Intxausti & Rojas - Movistar team

Strongest team from a climbing perspective thus far. Maybe a little weak on the flat/cobbled stages?

I don't think so. Sky and Astana are stronger.

Bodnar will be more useful than De Marchi, I'm guessing. It's not about who's the best climber on the team. We're only talking 3rd and 4th category climbs, with the occasional rolling 2nd category. There will probably be other teams to help them out when the pure sprinters are dropped.

The harder medium mountain stages will be controlled by other teams, anyway.

But it is in the flat & cobbles stages that Movistar could loose the race ...I am sure that is what happened to Valverde in 2013 & 2012 ..if memory serves

Astana and Sky have better climbers, but Movistar have more. And if last year's Tour showed us anything it's that Sky's climbers could very well blow themselves up on some stages and leave Chris on his lonesome.

Kittel + Degenkolb wanted to have some more say in terms of team building for Le Tour.

Kittel said according the article: "I wasn't ask in the build-up of our team for the Tour", after the journalists asked a bit more, he added "The team knows who we need in the sprint preparation, but in professional cycling there are some other priorities"

Degenkolb said straight that he wanted to be have a meeting before, to talk about the roster, now they were set to a fait accompli. But he added the team is not bad and there were no specific mistakes with it.

The article speculates it's about the nomination of Cheng instead of the old expirienced Johannes Fröhlinger.

Kittel was also asked about Cheng and he defended him at the press conference, that he does his job very well and that he's a good rider

Now official ...no English riders in the Tour starting in England !!

And Millar not selected yet so maybe no Scots

Just a Welshman, a Manx & a Kenyan Brit so far

Strange with all the talent in England

Is there a "drop dead" cut off deadline for a team's final roster?

Of course there is. I believe it's 24/48hrs before the start of the first stage.

Millar just tweeted

@millarmind: I was selected for TdF last week, then they pulled me last night. Wiggo, Dowsett, Pete, Swifty, fancy a city break? I hear York's nice.

Not a great fan of Millars but i feel from him...He really wanted to ride his last Tour & he was I believe making a film of it

Can't see how the selection is all that stronger without him

Cycling can be a cruel business
