Did anyone mention Ulissi just yet? In the Giro he would own this one. Didn't seem to be in great shape until now, though.

I found myself caught up in it too...

I was never one of his fans but he made me one a couple days ago and now I can't wait to see him drop the dawg any chance he gets. :)

Even if he was 100% I still wouldn't see him beat GVA or Matthews on a finish like this tbh
If it was a one-off classic or he was stage hunting, you'd have to give Martin a good shout today, but Matthews had an easy day after km13 yesterday and GVA has had this one in his sights since before Porte knocked Martin off the road.

If he hadn't had the crash, I'd say Martin would be targeting today and tomorrow as days to put time into his GC rivals, either by bonuses or by his QS team leveraging their classics experience to create gaps. As it is, I'm sure he's got an eye on Wednesday and doesn't want to burn matches he may need later.

He rode well yesterday, but abysmally two days ago. I think he will do well today but he is quite a loose cannon.

Apparently he's quoted as saying that he is "the chosen one" with regards to this stage in particular. I'm not sure when he was quoted as saying this but it was awfully brazen.

We'll soon see if he was the right choice...

Had stomach issues two days ago.

The commentators just mentioned that today is his birthday. I guess that would be some present to himself ;)

I'm hoping for a classic like conclusion. but thinking the contenders won't mind the uphill sprint.
