well it's what they said in basically every interview during the year before the tour.

Yeah, but nobody really believes that a team is sending someone with Roglic’s stage racing form to the Tour with no GC interest. No real pressure to perform on GC, maybe. A fall black plan, that might be believable. But no interest? The other teams would have to be very gullible to swallow that.

I know that, but me thinks that's just to get pressure off of Roglic and perhaps to set the opposition on the wrong foot. Valverde is constantly talking about being here for Nairo and Landa, while Arrieta says Nairo is the only leader. You don't believe that either, do you?

QS doing BMC a favor with the workload today.
I think they will stop in a few minutes - when they figure out, that the only one they caught was Rogliz.

I anyone should keep it going, it should be the teams with GC contenders who would like to ditch Rogliz one and for all. They are probably not considering him as a real threat, but that will show later in the tour.

I usually assume everyone is lying until I have concrete evidence to the contrary. :D

Agreed, there was no need to add pressure to Roglic by billing him as a GC hope - I still think he's viewed as a GC dark horse by his team. I don't see any reason for QuickStep to work hard to distance him in particular though - they are better off with him in the GC race instead of stage hunting.

I'm only here this early for the scenery, which is spectacular.

I'm always stunned at how many people can afford huge camping caravans. Where do they keep them when they're not watching the TdF? There must be 10,000 lining the roads today. Are they all Dutch? Do British people take them on the ferry? So many questions.

Quoting myself here^^...I'll take credit for inciting a bike race. Now I'm paying attention.

I don't get why so many say them chasing was for GC only.

There was 80km left, what were they supposed to do? Just let it go? Much better to come in peleton either way.

And somehow ignoring that Roglic is their only card for any kind of stage win today. And he's shown in past that on his day could go for a win. But no, they should rather just sit out for no reason whatsoever.

So what came out of that? The break is now doomed. Everybody is now certain Roglic is indeed here for GC.

What came of it? Well, if you are QS, you’ve made it a harder stage, which puts Alaphillipe and Gilbert in even better position for the win (I think)

Aye, agree with this.
how you finding the racing Martin?

After re-watching the yesterday finish I have this crazy conspiracy idea that GVA is probably discussing to join BORA next year. :D

It is the best option for him and for Bora as well.
He is not that expensive they cannot afford them. Part of the money can be paid by Specialized.
He has practically zero chance to win anything outside Bora and QST. He can find with Sagan way how to split the races.
QST is too strong for Sagan and BORA without the strong rider of Greg quality and Sagan will be lucky if he can win more than one two races in spring. QST knows how to ride against him and with improving and healthy Gaviria it will be even more difficult. Burghard and Oss are great but they are not good enough to be there at the very end when it matters.
I always wanted those two together playing with the field and QST especially.
Thanks but no, thanks
The "best option" for Bora
