Tour de France Tour de France 2024, Stage 7: Nuits-Saint-Georges > Gevrey-Chambertin, 25.3 km (ITT)

Page 30 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Since 2021, the mean and median finishing position in GTs of the main GC guys:

Vingegaard: 1.5, 1.5
Pogacar: 1.5, 1.5
Roglic: 1.66, 1

S. Yates: 3.5, 3.5
Ayuso: 3.5, 3.5
Carapaz: 6, 3
Thomas: 16, 3
Mas: 4, 4
A. Yates: 5.33, 4
Vlasov: 5.33, 5
Almeida: 5.5, 5
Martinez: 12, 5
Rodriguez: 5.5, 5.5
O'Connor: 8, 5.5
Evenepoel: 6.5, 6.5
Arensman: 19.2, 6
Hindley: 5.66, 7
Bilbao: 8.25, 7.5
Gaudu: 8, 9
Bardet: 13.6, 9
Landa: 10.25, 9.5

I believe is every rider who have finished multiple GTs with one of the two averages below 10 over that time.

Evenepoel will move to likely ~5-5.66, 3-4 after this tour... but yeh... while he is one of the best 4 GT riders right now most likely there is a clear top 3 still that no-one else is quite in the same range as recently.

Roglic has 7 podium finishes in a row... Pogacar 6 in a row, Vingegaard 4 in a row in GTs. No-one else has 2 in a row...

Julien Bernal was fined around 200 euro for stopping in his home territory, kissing his wife, and having fun with the fans. Not too bad.

Last year, Benoit Consnefroy stopped and chugged a beer or something with a bunch of fans. He had a great time, but I notice he's not on the Ag2r Tour team this year. Maybe Julien Jurdie had seen enough.

The sooner we embrace the fake pro wrestling aspect of the sport, the better

After a week of the Tour with some climbs and TT, and despite all the exposure and the drama, I still haven't had any clue to my biggest riddle in pro cycling these days : How good is Juan Ayuso really? How should we rate him among riders like Jorgenson, Rodriguez etc.? I find it hard to find any pattern in his performance since he turned pro. Combined with his antics, he's a strange young man.

So Julien Bernal apologized to the UCI for "damaging the sport," but said he'd pay the fine every day to relive that moment.

Magnus Cort (and his mustache) said he did the same thing but he wasn't caught.

He seems like a perfect fit to be that Movistar GC guy who hangs out at the back of chase group 1 his whole career. Too bad UAE have him locked up for the rest of the decade so he may never realize his potential.

But seriously, he's only 21. I think at that age you give him the benefit of the doubt by focusing attention on the standout performances.

Yes, he started slower but gained a bit even on Remco in the closing kilometers.
Roglic had certainly organized his time trial well. He did gain time (6 seconds) on Evenepoel between time control 2 (top of the climb) and 3. Mainly because of his far better descent then Evenepoel. But after the third time control and to the finish, he lost 2 seconds on Evenepoel, although this one lost a few seconds due to his phantom flat and his disturbed focus. So, conclusion. Both Roglic and Evenepoel finished strong, Pogacar and Vingegaard faded a little bit.
