I've never really understood this dynamic in a breakaway where guys are attacking each other when, in this case, there's 15 km of rolling prior to 2 final climbs with the last one at 8%. Aside from Healy, who we know has special qualities for that, why do they think trying to go solo now will increase their chances of winning or even getting on the podium. Is it just racing instincts?
I think guys like Simmons understand they need to use their rouleurskills to ride away form the pure climbers before the last climb
