Which, given Gigante's descending skills, should not be an impossible task... but Gigante is a one woman team who can ride back to the peloton on her own, as she's shown today.

She needs to be with Gigante at the top of the Joux-Plane to do that, which is easier said than done, although it will depend whether Gigante thinks she has a chance to win whether any risks happen on Joux-Plane given it's over 50k from home.

Okay, but you'll find fewer spectators at the average mountain finish in the men's Vuelta, so what's your point really? There were a lot of people on the climb, just not on that specific part.

PFP knows how to prepare and achieve an objective as well as anyone. In every interview since the Olympics, she laid out her plan to win this bike race. The hardest part, no matter how good the plan is, is the execution, and that's what it was today: an execution. What a ride! What a champion! Bravo Pauline!

Said at the start of the Tour that PFP was an unknown quantity, but could win it and boy did she crush it today. Didn't expect her to be so dominant though, Gigante went as about expected, but the downhills tomorrow will be the real worry for her. Vollering, Niewiadoma, Rooijakers about same level as last year so is it a case of PFB stepping it up a level?

I of course wanted to see NFB win today and good to see her bounce back into the top 10. I think she would still have been with the Vollering group even without the break.

As for the crowds at the top, I knew someone just tuning in would be critical, but watching this race every day, crowds have been fantastic including today, it is definitely growing in popularity.

They have. I was watching an interview with PFP the other day and I could clearly hear the Visma media guy saying (in Dutch) "these crowds are something else... more than for Jonas".

Of course PFP is like Jeanne d'Arc in terms of popularity in France, but bigger crowds around the bus than they had in the men's Tour, that does speak volumes.

I think the performance gaps are eerily similar to Tourmalet 2 years ago, but considering everyone should be better than back then that performance gap now is better than back then.

Of course they should be a bit better than two years ago but the talent density isn‘t that much better and that‘s the main problem for women‘s cycling, the Professional support is there.

Funny how she stayed under the radar the entire time—at least from my perspective. Next year might be tougher now that everyone knows how strong she really is. Then again, maybe it won’t make a difference. Hard to say.

Watched her gradual departure from the clique. Not any significant attempt to retrieve her with Vollering gaining time over her compats at the end. It's like they all don't want to be the first to respond for fear of being gapped from that exclusive contender group. Pauline settled all doubts today and tomorrow's main event will be Vollering vs Gigante', barring a crash.
This Tour Queen Stage ends with a big BANG from the female Pogacar, who actually came before Tadej. The Tour apparently will end tomorrow with a bit of whine....

Is that related to her injury from Worlds a few years back? Can still see the scar clearly. If it is, I would tend to agree.

She did a real turn on the front earlier in the stage after many had already been dropped so I was surprised to see she barely made the time-cut. Must be real bad.
