Vollering, Kasia and others are lucky that Pauline chose to switch to MTB, otherwise it would have been slip pickings for them in these years. The real queen is back.

Perfect Tour ending for PFP, winning solo with the yellow jersey.

Vollering must be feeling a bit mad, last year she lost because SD Works abandoned her and this year she lost to a woman that spend that last seasons doing MTB.

Włordarczyk a nice surprise in the top5. Gigante absolutely needs to improve her descending otherwise she should be race on Zwift instead.

PFP with the perfect French accent apart from mixing in the full Dunglish "Ja" every other sentence.

The Dylan van Baarle influence.

Pauline going full Pog these two days. But she looks more like Pozzovivo on the bike though, however the power seems to be there so who am I to judge.
With them showing this at the same time as bringing in Jeannie Longo to celebrate the home GC triumph, it feels like a certain symbolism.

I now feel absolutely certain that the sole reason for her coming back was specifically to be the first French winner of this race. You can only be the first once, and while she's achieved a huge, huge amount, the fact this race has taken off as a spectacle and been taken to heart by the sport meant that if somebody else got that accolade, it would brush many of hers aside. She is kinda owed a stronger palmarès on the road than she has because of the amount of time taken off (and that she was a good teammate and didn't attack Vos on Madonna del Ghisallo back in the day), but it feels a little too perfect, a little too stage-managed to have this finale, with the cameras lingering on the race director in the car following her, and on Jeannie Longo in the finish area.

And with us seeing more and more of a reverting to selective calendars like we saw 20-25 years ago, super peaking and the likes, I really don't feel as either impressed or pleased by seeing Pauline back and performing like this as I thought I would be.

Remco could get some GC weight info from Dylan next year, if he stays with Quickstep.

Good racing overall from day 1. Except for so many wrecks early on. I was entertained.

Some excellent chateaux as well. And monasteries.

A landmark moment before the final podium....in the media area the Pretty Princess la Promotion and ever radiant Marion Rousse dares not look directly into the Victor's eyes as she bows her head: "Your Majesty! We are honored that you graced our little event and restored the Nobility of France. You and your smallish Maeva have taken most of the stage wins and that has happened forNEVER! Bless you and keep you in our GC!"

Dunno about Vollerings feelings atm but if comparing, say , to Cadel Evans, who was mostly doing mtb before he came to road cycling, to be very good in it. In this light I think PFP has history of doing so much in road and cx, like enough, that this so called comeback from mtb to road ain't not a special miraculous thing.

It's not special or miraculous, certainly not from a rider of PFP's undoubtable quality. The thing that has me uncomfortable is how convenient it is and all the stops being pulled out to make it some huge patriotic festival.

Looks to me the mouth is quite open.. You do know possible to attack minute really deep before you need to open hatch, no?
I know. It was a fair bit of time post initial attack/in full hammer mode before I made that comment. And yes, eventually she grimaced and was gasping a bit more.
