tour de france rest day 2 round up

Well 2nd rest day

2 things come to mind

Andy and Fränk have not got any smarter

Without Gilbert there would not have been much real racing - most of the "excitement " has come from crashes and bad luck.

The race for Green was intersting for a few stages but really re racing quite boring really.

What are your thoughts ?

I like the way Voeckler rides, even though I dislike his personality, but I hope he doesn't win. No matter how much he deserves it, that'd cheapen the whole thing. It'd be like watching Brochard, Van Bon and Hamburger sprint for gold at the WC.

Outside of the gc contenders theres been some exciting racing.

Between the gc contenders its been pretty dull. The only one who has filled me with any enthusiasm is Evans.

Im obviously really glad with my guys performance. Him, Vanedert and Voeckler have owned this Tour so far, though i am very upset at the circumstances which surround him.

Hasn't been great has it? Never is.

And yet Eurosport, both commentators and studio go on about how this has been "the best Tours in years".

It gets quite frustrating, they just keep going on about it.

Funny thing is, i remember in 09 they admited that it was a crap Tour.

Personally ive only watched half but its been ok.

The uncertainty as to who will win definately adds something to the final week.

What adds even more to the final week is all stages have interesting profiles.

If only the good descenders (im obviously thinking of 2 of my above listed, riders of the Tour here) can make those descends count.

Then with Galibier and Alpe remaining, ES might be justified with their "best Tour in years" slogan.

What more can Samu do?

What if instead of attacking on every mountain stage he stays in the pack.

Will that enthuse you?

I know it's not fashionable to like the Tour (or modern cycling, for that matter) but I think it's been a blast so far.

This place in July, apart from the *** n00bs, is full of people acting like betrayed fans of a 'sell-out' band on pitchfork. People remember the good stages from 20 years ago, block out memories of the rest and then ***** when any stage isn't one of the best 10 they've seen.

We have too many sprints apparently. So they replace them with short hills and people ***** about that. So then we have lots of MTF and the riders understandably throttle back, and people ***** about that.

Cycling is what it is, and this tour has been decent. Stop looking for something it can't deliver.

i would love to see AC wining not only because i like him, but also because it means a ballistic race.

humans are (in general) stupid. however even the stupidest human is right when he says\thinks that this tour should've been much better.

vino, wigans, evans (ups i am talking too early ) VDB2 etc....

Agreed. It's a pressure cooker. One week to go and the top 7 are separated by small amounts of time. I'm loving it.

Maybe some want USPS back again to strangle the race to death.

Who are the two you're talking about? Samu I get, but the other? Neither Voeckler or Vanendert are super descenders(though better than most of the guys that can make it over that cat2)
