Tour de France Stage 17 - Superdevoluy

Think we need this thread here and not the main forum

Mapei is NOT giving up it seems. They have no doubt Remco can finish ahead of Vingo

we'll be full on worm hold imploder weapons by Sunday the rate we're going.

Maybe Remco will be Mr 70 percent, sit in a CO gas chamber for 10 minutes, 2 blood bags, and loaded up on the legal stronger than tramadol product

Vingo and Pog, ball back in your court it seems to escalate further...

The next several stages are going to be beyond insane

First thing I read was Super-Delulu. Makes sense as well.

But don't you think you are reading a bit much into this? Landa said they're gonna try to stay close to Vingegaard and maybe Remco can get a little closer. That sounds like optional attacks to me not a plan to go, well Super-Delulu in the last stages.

But why the hell not, eh? Some more insanity on top of the insanity should be fun.

it was the very confident comment.

Remember, Remco never reconned the Pyrenees. He only ever had seen the Tourmalet before. He spent a LOT of time in the southern Alps, targeting this week for his big peak.

He always planned on using his biggest guns this week

on second thought, the aliens took more than 2 minutes out of the humans in about 5km of climbing, when the final 3.8km are under 6 percent? What?

Did they humans take a natural break or something? This time gain by the 3 aliens is even less plausible than what we saw Sunday

yep, we'll be full on worm hole imploders and single shot galaxy destroyers this weekend. Nukes were so for the first week of the tour.

What was in it for the "humans" to ride at that point? The strongest of those humans are teammates of the aliens and won't ride, and the rest only care where they finish relative to each other. I don't think Derek Gee really cares if he finishes 20 or 22 minutes behind on GC, but he would like to stay ahead of Felix Gall, for example.

They soft-pedaled in.

Just comparing segment times of Derek Gee and Remco Evenepoel, the human GC group lost 33 seconds to Remco on Noyer and 1:01 on Superdévoluy which means they lost a further 39 seconds on the descent. That doesn't seem like a group that was racing. They were slower on the final climb than guys like Carlos Verona, Stevie Williams, Louis Meintjes, Julien Bernard, and others who made no real impression on the stage.
