Farrar will win, look how impressive he was on the intermediate. Plus Wouter is giving him extra strengths.

You could be right there. Plus- the pressure to get Garmin's first stage win is off him now.

That too, personally I hope he could win it for Wouter, the first sprintstage for his best friend or either Champs d'Elysees.

Tyler was impressive at the intermediate yesterday. And with Hushovd aiding in the leadout, that's a damn good combination. Lets just hope they can time it just right, and Tyler will hopefully jump off at the right time.

I hope Ale-Jet but I am not sure about his form. Garmin will be tired from working on the front all day so I doubt they will have many riders to lead Farrar out. Hard not to go with Cavendish.

the end looks quite lumpy, i would expect the stronger sprinter like petacchi or goss to do well. I expect cav to not be as good. today we will see cadel in polka dots.

Why would they be working on the front? It's not a rule that the yellow jersey team has to ride all day long on the front.

@dlwssonic
this is not a lumpy finish, don't let the profile fool you.

______________ = today's stage.

Cav will win. Greipel will take a close 2nd :cool:

a profile like that in the giro will be quite lumpy. I guess the tdf have to emphasise on the little inclines they have.

First bunchsprint of the Tour. Cavendish will fail badly like he always does the first bunchsprint of a GT.
People will doubt him and he will win all the other stages that end in a bunchsprint this Tour.... Maybe he loses 1 more.. maybe :)

the intermediate on stage one is no indication of someones form or lack there of for that matter

Thanks to TeamSkyFans for the graphic of the finish. I was fiddling with some aerial photos to show the same thing, but this is even better. Though I hate to see big crashes, especially if they wipe out a GC candidate's chances, this stage sure seems ripe for carnage-- the off-ramp, the roundabout, a train crossing and a 120º right-hander, all just outside the 3km zone.

Best wishes to all the riders to make it through safely-- but don't be surprised if there's a (sprint) trainwwreck and a small motley group sprinting for the win. I'll be very interested to see how the GC contenders handle their positioning on this one. . .

Oh look, a tight bend just before the 3km. Ironic to say the least. Second the wishes for no crashes. Enough with that. Let the actual racing decide the winner.

Other than that, Petachi says he's out of form and Cavendish will suck as he usually do in the first sprint. My bet is Farrar. My wish is Galimzyanov, Ventoso Swift or Greipel-now that I think of it, that's a long list.

PS: wait what? GPM on the top of a bridge? For a moment I tought they were racing in the Netherlands:D

Well it's a better indication than the finish. Maybe Cavendish was sleeping but still one the 'first round'.

However it's hard to bet against someone so dominating in the past editions so my guess is 1.Cav 2.Farrar

Soyou don't think that Thor will want to keep yellow. Just about every team that gets into yellow rides to keep it

They will ride on the start to begin the stage. After 60km, they will back off and tell the other sprint teams to do work. If they refuse to do work, the break will go clear. That's what I would do. **** riding the whole stage on the front when you don't need to. There's 7 teams that will be interested in bringing the break back - you force those teams into bringing the break back by bluffing.
