Looks like Vervaeke put on quite a show. Yes, Lopez needn't worry about him

Another one to add to the list of Colombian climbing talents, which team doesn't have the obligatory Colombian yet?

Well, eventually he holds Vervaeke by 1.15. So he didn't really had to worry;)

Top 5 pretty close to eachother. I'm quite surprised with the Russians, they did well. So there's a new Colombian GT winner in the making but also a new Cadel and 2 Menchovs :D

Pretty disappointing race. We basically got three times the same sprint finish (one with some escapees in front), then four times the same MTF. No real time differences in the GC top 5, they were basically all on the same level, with Lopez a bit above. What a difference a single downhill stage finish or even a decent ITT would have made to the race... wasn't meant to be. I hope the organizer create a more balanced course next year.

It's normal that Vervaeke would eventually have to fold a little. He did everything by himself. Colombian team needed help. Who knows what would've happened otherwise?

what a load of **** lopez. himself closed more than 2 minutes on la tousiere. he's simply the best rider and climber this avenir. I predicted it vervaeke didn't stand a chance. despite some people here claiming the belgians were the favorites

Did you even read what the ticker said? I know you dislike Belgian and Dutch riders, deify Colombians and Lopez is great but this is ridiculous.

I never even named Lopez. According to the ticker, Colombia got help in reducing the gap, as they had trouble doing it on their own.
Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

How dare you doubt the might of the great [insert random Colombian]. He controlled the whole race on his own and then spread out his magic wings and flew away!

Well, that's not true ofcourse. He won the stage in great fashion.

Vervaeke knew he wouldn't win the GC because Lopez is better. So a stage win on the last day is ''something''

No need to argue about this stuff.

Lopez had an obvious and deserved victory; clearly the best rider in the race. Vervaeke also confirmed himself as a great climbing prospect, he won today in impressive fashion and would be a bit higher in the GC if he wasn't screwed over by the ridiculous time penalty. Also Robert Power, I think I saw his name once in a result in an Italian 1.2 race he won, but I never really noticed him before this race. What a monster he is for a first years espoir though. Not too far behind Lopez and a year younger than Lopez too!

Disappointing ride by all the pre-race favourites except Lopez and Vervaeke btw.....

As long as Alpes Velo continues to organize the race I fear it is going to be more of the same.

13 ITT km and 2 pseudo-downhill finishes over 3 editions organized by them.

2'45 at bottom of the climb, 35' at the end, Lopez attacked together with Power, and were joined 7 minutes later by the two Russians. Those are facts, you make it out as if Lopez destroyed everyone on that last climb & did everything alone. That happened only in your fantasy.

I don't know or cheer for any of these riders. Lopez won, good for him, but he wasn't a level above all the rest, from what I read in the reports (and the Colombian team also wasn't dominating). Power, one year younger, ended at 30 seconds.

Btw: this is what you wrote before the race:
the colombian team is coming with hands down the best team they ever send here. usually b-talent riders from cep/4-72 with the exception of quintana. but this yera hand picked the greatest talents from all over the colombian pro teams and my god are they strong. I also hope they are in form though. miguel lopez could be on a completely different level. better than quintana was in 2010 perhaps

Power won all the Italian one day races in the building up for this race.

the only time lopez needed to go he rode power near 30 seconds behind him after coming back 10 seconds in a mere 2 km. that';s like going twice as fast, after that he had the leaders jersey which was never in danger. the colombian team was amazing. the 3 climbers they had did all the work the past days controlling the peloton which just a few guys is very hard back to back.

Well tbh after your praising of the colombians and the first MTF which Lopez won I thought he would go on to destroy everone, but besides being the best it was all with tiny margin.
So he isn't that waaaaay better than the other riders. He certainly is very good, but you are ridiculous as always.
