The interesting part about the calculations is that W2W has the steep part of the climb as being much lower W/kg, which would indicate that UAE were actually going very hard on the lower slopes

I think that was visible to be honest. They shed 75% of the peloton on 3km of 8%.

Well, he's washed then, time to hang it up. Seriously, this is not a "mutant" performance, but still very good even for a number of 2024-2025 clinbing times

Relative gaps always rule. He didn't drop Lenny and Lipo plus some other guys were also close. Either they are suddenly at Pog's level or he was today at theirs (choose what's more likely). It was way below his level but maybe he didn't even try to drop all guys (at least that's what he implied post-race).

Interesting observation about Nordhagen. Both today and in the first hard stage of O Gran Camino he isn't following the initial attacks that happen but rather he takes his own tempo and then slowly just grinds his way up and past everyone who tried to follow the attacks. Still nice to see that when he felt he had more to give than the tempo of the group he wasn't afraid to increase the tempo and go away from the others.

If Red Bull's aim is a take a punt to beat Pogacar, cause chaos, and win stages, this made sense. If their aim is a GC podium, this did not.
i think it made sense in the fight for gc podium with the bonus seconds on the finish line and in order to still have rogla in play against lenny and nordhagen

Only the case for after Nordhagen bridged. I don't think that was a done deal had Lipowitz pulled when the descent flattened out/first km of flat.

As for Roglic, I see the point but his form is a bit tbc and Martinez has Tiberi who (in theory) should be peaking soon

if by gc podium you strictly value a top3 only and dont care about second vs third , then granted

but in his fight against martinez he came out on top today thanks to tactics

seixas gets a pass because he's new

seems like only visma guys have half a brain regarding this stuff
MVdP is the most embarassing. A champion like him shouldn't be riding for 2nd in Ronde because hes scared of hurting Pogacar's little feelings

Bahrein needs to focus on intermediate sprints for Martinez and that he can win a sprint for the stage against Pogacar. Don’t see how else he can try and win GC
